These come to mind first:

1. Rosters not installed correctly
2. Insufficient RAM (old machine). Rename arena-lite.viv -> arena.viv
3. Internet Explorer 9 installed (game doesn't work with it)
4. Something in your antivirus is blocking additional mod EXEs (Project2.exe, etc.)

Hello, my problem is simple...first step in instalation instruction is......

1. Install the game and start it once to the main menu.
You have to do this, so the game creates the default My Documents folders for NHL 2004.

I launched the game to main menu and also i started a season
but my game doesnt create any folder in My Documents for NHL 2004
Any solution?

Search the folder \nhl 2004 from your C: drive.

It's referring to that location.

Is it possible/doable to only install the mod (not new rosters) and start playing dynasty mode from the 2003-2004 season and then update rosters for each season or even make real players appear in draft?

I don't think it is possible for the real players in the draft.

Okay. I think that would be neat, though if the other stuff is possible I don't think I'll be missing it.

Are you guys all sure that the virus alerts are bogus?

I believed what was written here, and made my virus software trust these EXE files. I was having a great time with the game for several months, until last week. Then, out of nowhere, my system went totally kaput. I had to shell out $50 to get someone to restore it, and almost lost all my programs. I didn't even mention this game to the repair guy, and he said he suspected it was the problem.

I want to continue enjoying the game, but there's no way I can trust project1.exe, etc. with these warnings anymore.

Consider this a warning to all and a cry for help.

I think you got a virus from somewhere else - $50 for restoring the PC is ridiculous !

I agree. I think he got the virus from somewhere else or else there would be others posting the same problem. Based on the post, I am guessing the user is a beginner. He probably went to Staples or Future Shop and had their repair guy look at it and that guy doesn't know what he was talking about. He probably saw project1.exe and had no idea what it was and assumed it was a virus.
