I'm playing a season as Detroit and I just played a game against L.A.

Right at the beginning Ian White took a penalty and I scored three shorthanded goals. Later in the period during my second penalty White himself scored another SH goal. Those were my first four shots on goal. I was surprised to see that L.A.'s goalie Quick wasn't pulled.

It was hard to concentrate on the game after all this weirdness. I ended up freezing the game and while L.A. pressed hard they never scored. I took my third penalty during the last minute of the game and Darren Helm scored my fifth SH goal.

I've played this game for years but I've never played a game where only SH goals have been scored. I'm not usually even very aggressive on the PK and only take changes when it's safe. L.A. seemed to only think about offense during their PP so when puck was in their end I had lots of room. Quick also gave me two of them.

The season is now about 20 games old and I've scored 8 SH goals while allowing only 3 when on PK.

I'm sorry if reviving of this topic is annoying to anyone. But I have always found it funny that referees are skating faster than anyone else. Even backwards.
And another funny thing. If you are shorthanded try shooting the puck out of your defensive zone in the last few seconds of the penalty. If the opponents goalie is hitting the ice with the stick and you get a lucky deflection off from the board, the puck can hit the skate of the goalie and go into the net. I have pulled it off 2 or 3 times.

Oh man! I figured this out years ago! I was curious if the goalies slapped their sticks on the ice, and when I shot the puck out, went off the back boards, off the inside of his skate and in the net! Definitely one of the best goals I've scored :)

This is an excellent hockey game - except two things: the marionette goalies and the pinball-like puck physics. The way the puck acts is not funny, it's really annoying.

Have you tried increasing puck friction in the game settings?

I've noticed that I can actually "predict" where the puck will end up (after a dump or clear) and attack that way. But hey, this was the cats pajamas 9 years ago (and still is), I can live with a few minor qwirks :)

Puck elasticity was increased to force goalies to let more rebounds. If you put the elasticity down the goalies will retain the pucks like flypaper.

Puck physics settings (friction & elasticity) are really good... I'm surprised if you can't find adjustments that suit your tastes better.

About 4 years ago a couple of euro guys sponsored an olympic tournament for the NEHL guys and I was playing a Canadian buddy Huriel. He delivered a hard hit to one of my skaters and 2 guys in white suits came on to the ice and put my guy on a stretcher and carried him off the ice, I didn't know it existed and haven't seen it since !

Maybe they had different AI settings or game settings that enabled that? (Almost like the ice girls in NHL 2005-09) There's got to be textures for them somewhere in the gamedata files though.

The coaches are funny. They have creased suits and many of them look like some boozers taken from the arena park. Maybe that's just realistic.

They have gone mental from witnessing their 3-man penalty killing team full force checking the other team.

Today in a game against CPU I had some quite interesting accident. CPU used that hooking skill which holds you against the board from behind. As it can be executed without the victim being exactly right next to the board, another one of my players squeezed in between those 2. So, Jason Spezza was directly at the board in the trajectory of the victim Michalek and the CPU player.
The move connected Michalek and he was forced against the board, but, the funny thing was that Jason Spezza was sort of pushed outside of the boards by those 2. He appeared outside of the rink for a short while. When I watched the replay and put the camera focus un Spezza, I saw that he later "respawned" near the center.

Has anything similar ever happened to you guys? Hopefully you understood what happened.
