Just wondering if there's any PC racing sims where you can use a wheel and which are from 2007 or before. And the reason I say before 2007 is that I don't think my laptop/graphics can support anything requiring a good video card or speed. I'm aware of rFactor but don't think that will work. I know about F1 99-02 and how it's been modded but looking for something a bit newer. Maybe one of those rally or dirt games or something. |

rFactor is great but it requires a bit more powerful PC. EA's old F1 99-02 is still among the best... of course good old GP4 by Geoff Crammond is decent too. Remember the whole NFS line... I just played the ancient NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 (2002) and enjoyed it as much as when it was new. I have them all... haven't had time to install the newest Hot Pursuit (2010) yet though. But for brainless arcade driving... nothing beats the Sega Rally series. Revo might be too demanding for an older computer but get the old originals... Sega Rally 2 (arcade perfect for PC). I made a few vids when the game was new... Here's me having some fun with Revo. ![]() [dohtml]<iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/R5CREIEuQpQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[/dohtml] [dohtml]<iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/PTG_2X7bQ40" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[/dohtml] |

@Janne: Richard Burns Rally is considered the most realistic rally game by many. Completely forgot that one. Need For Speed: Shift has amazingly realistic "feel" too. Just bought a steering wheel (don't tell my wife) and I'm going to test it with it. This is my old vid... played from keyboard so it was a bit "shaky". Check esp. the replay... it's SO good (beware of the volume again... dunno why but my FRAPS records it too loud) [dohtml] <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CmSBNZtDI8w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[/dohtml] |

I love to play Total Immersion Racing, it's an old game (released in 2002) but it's funny to play. Maybe it's not 100 % realistic or something, I just enjoy winning cars and tracks. Already mentioned, but I'd also recommend Richard Burns Rally and Need for Speed: Shift. Pretty nice games with steering wheel. RBR is still the best rally "simulator", I think. |

Pretty nice looking classic mod for F1 2013. [dohtml]<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/QeX2Q9--Qco" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[/dohtml] The default game looks pretty good too. I have this somewhere but haven't played it yet. Any impressions? How is there even a debate about this? Nascar Racing 2003 by papyrus. I played this game before i got into NHL09 (it was in 2010) and you can use a wheel. I did. And if graphics are your concern do not worry my PC at the time was worst than terrible. |

Which of these games work really well with a keyboard (no gamepad or wheel)? |

Old EA's F1 99-02 works great with the keyboard. It's still surprisingly good game and there are sh*tloads of mods available. I played it to death back then. [dohtml]<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/IoKTfZJbdUw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[/dohtml] |

If you're looking for a sim-game, rFactor is the only option. Doesn't need powerful PC, has very realistic gameplay and there are hundreds, maybe thousands car and track mods available. Modding possibilities are endless. |
