Considering I haven't found a thread about this, I think we need a place to just chat about general things that are going around the NHL this year (in previous years as well). I'm sure we're all enlightened about some aspect of the game, why not share?

Figured I'd start it off, I was looking at the standings, and i'll just say it here, I hate the format of a division leader automatically being placed 1-2-3 in they're respected conference. For example, in the West, St. Louis is sitting fourth with 81 points, while San Jose is in third with 71. That's a five win difference. I feel, instead of splitting conferences (which they're not, thank god), they need to seed each team on point totals. None of this division leading bull crap.

There... I've vented enough :D

Okay....2nd intermission of the Cgy game and they're winning, Avs and Kings won earlier tonight, Dallas won yesterday and Chicago has lost. So if Cgy win then them, Col, Dal, & LA are at 8th place with 68 pts, SJ are 7th with 71 (they'll likely bounce back though, they always have a slump), and Chi are 6th with 73. Phx have 73, Min have 63, and Ana have 62 but are trending upwards.

In the East, the 3 SE division teams keep trading places for 3rd at around 68 pts, Ott has 72, Tor has 65, and Buf has 62 and are looking better.

Tight in both conferences....I wouldn't be surprised to see Buf sneak in again but I have no idea from the West. I don't see Cgy/Col/Min making it though.

I forgot to record this game earlier and missed this, better goal than Lemieux:

Terrible season for the Habs, a terrible team with exception of Price and the Deharnais line.

Teams I'm rooting for in the playoffs are probably: St.Louis, Nashville, Ottawa, Devils

And what a boring trade deadline, wasted two hours on it yesterday, lol

I'm sure Buffalo owes future favours or something because no way could they have made those trades otherwise.

Well, I'm content...
Robin Lehner shutting out the Bruins on home ice, and Florida giving it to the Leaf's.
T'was a good night.

Ryan White went crazy on Veillieux after fighting him at the beginning of the game.

Emelin just threw a huge hit....but he accidentally checked his own teammate Cole.

That was an amazing and one of the weirdest games I've ever seen.

White did a moron-move by punching him, makes no sense.

Emelin is a monster, one of the best clean hitters in NHL right now. And that was one of the most beautiful hip-check I've seen, haha, was hilarious.

You forgot to mention that Habs blew a 4-1 lead, by letting Wild score 3 goals in 3 minutes.

And of course the epic fail from Setoguchi in the end! :D

What the...? Saw the Bruins vs. Islanders a bit today, and Lucic rip off MacDonald's chin strap and threw it in the crowd.

It was a great night for hockey I'd say, with Ottawa pulling off a 7-3 win.
Pretty strange how Mathieu Garon got that "lower body injury" about 4 minutes in.
Was eating at Casey's watching the game, of course it was loud and couldn't hear anything.
Seemed like a harmless play

Hey... do you think we should make a "General Hockey" subforum... for all leagues?

Do you think it could be at least somewhat popular?

Hate watching sports with a large crowd because it bugs me when I can't hear the commentary.

If you get a PVR then hockey is great, you can skip through commercials/intermissions and a bunch of other slow-downs so it only takes like 70-80 minutes to watch a game instead of 2.5-3 hrs live. Same thing if you dl it, the commercials are taken out by whoever uploaded it. I watch more games from streams though unfortunately so it makes me appreciate being able to forward through recordings since you can't forward through a stream.

Sabres 7-1-2 btw in their last 10, 2 pts out of a playoff spot and dominated Carolina tonight....I think they might just end up getting in.
