I'm voting Canada. They have the most solid team this year.

IMO Sweden has the strongest team this year.

Then I hope that Italy can avoid relegation, even though it will be very hard...

As long as we bring Edwardson to the Championship man.....

I hope our Ansoldi and Lutz plays well by the way :)

Yes, Edwardson played a bad season and comes back from an injury, don't understand why he's on the team (actually Cornacchia made several strange decisions during his time as national coach), but let's see what they do. If they fail we will have enough time to blame Cornacchia B)

I voted for Sweden. They have 12(?) NHL-men there, who can play toghether, the home crowd, VERY hungry after the last years loss... i think they're going to take it.

Who voted for Latvia? :D I will ofc be "cheering" for you as my 2nd favourite team with Finland, i hope success... might be a bit hard. Hope it goes atleast better than last year... :bad:

I believe Canada will win, they have good team and chemistry (good mix of star players and young prospects) shame that Subban will not play, lets see who will replace him. Sweden has also very good team, on names maybe the strongest, but they will not take the pressure, and will end in semifinals.
Also USA has very good team after many years, I think Ryan - Stastny - Okposo could be one of best lines on tournament, and Jimmy Howard is also in good condition this year.I think they will surprise all. Dont bet on Fins this year, their roster doesnt look so good (compare to others) but has maybe best goalie. Also Russians are making generation change so even with Datsyuk and Malkin they will not win.

We (czechs) has good offense, but defense sucks, and without Pavelec (altrough Stepanek is good goalie) it will be very hard, and I guess we will fail in quaterfinals even we have great offense (Hemsky - Krejci - Michalek that will be concert).

One special : Petr Nedved will have his debut for Czechs on WC in his 40 :)

My tips : 1. Canada 2. USA 3. Sweden 4. Russia

Question for Italian fans : Who are the best players in Italian squad. Im making roster but I never heard about those players, so its quite tough, and who will be the starter probably?Thx for answer

Sweden has gotten some amazing players from the NHL, but I believe Fasth/Enroth pair is not strong enough. Agree with Ocelar - Sweden could possibly win bronze medal.

I voted 4 Latvia. Sure, there are some patriotic feelings there, but for the first time ever I actually think we have the firepower to fight for the medals. We have a young, very hungry team, who now knows how to play good hockey, thanks to our new coach Ted Nolan. Go Latvia! :)

Watch out for Denmark!

Frans Nielsen, Lars Eller, Jannik Hansen and Phillip Larsen coming right at ya.

Oh and Frederik Andersen in goal:
"Andersen set a new regular season club record for Frölunda with eight shutouts in 2011–12, surpassing Henrik Lundqvist's seven shutouts from the 2003–04 season.[3] In addition to his shutouts, Andersen also led Elitserien in goals against average and save percentage, and received a nomination for the Elitserien Rookie of the Year award."

Strongest team ever - hopefully make it to the quarter finals if we are lucky.

Italy's lines in the friendly game against Denmark (2:4):

Goalies: 1. Bellissimo (has just signed a Elitserien-contract, 3rd best save-% at the WC 2010), 2. Tragust, 3. Bernard

Defenders:
Borgatello & Helfer (for sure the two best Italian-born defenders, both also know how to score important goals)
Plastino - De Marchi (Plastino knows how to score, De Marchi is a pretty defensive D)
Larkin (only Italian NHL-drafted prospect, young but one of the best in the team, offensive D-man) - Johnson (solid)
Marchetti - Hofer (both know how to defend, of course not the guys who can make the difference on this level, but deserve to be here)

Insam (young, not the fastest, but he brings some kg) - Egger (defensive forward, who can play perfectly D as well, important because of his experience) - Scandella (sniper)
Iannone (I'm not a big fan of him, but he deserves to be here) - Rocco (can't really say something about him) - Sirianni (sniper)
Fontanive (fast)- Edwardson (in my opinion the weakest player in the team, esp. because he played a bad season) - Ansoldi (solid)
Bernard (fast, young player, IMO he should play in 1st line instead of Insam) 9 - De Toni (experienced, solid, leader) - Felicetti (pretty fast, solid)

I think Scandella and Sirianni should get the highest rating, because without their goals Italy won't have any chance to compete. Insam and especially Bernard (IMO 3rd best forward after the two snipers) played a great season. Actually all other players are defensive forwards.
Scandella and Bernard are the fastest forwards, followed by Fontanive and Felicetti. On the D Borgatello and Helfer are the best players.
Overall they have the weakest roster in Group S, but the team counts and we will see if they are able to surprise.

I hope I could help you a bit and hopefully Fred does not see it completely different B)

Thx PhilHell. It helps a lot, those small nations is always difficult to set.

Remi : Can you made something similar for Denmark players? I dont have problem with NHLers, but rest of dannish is also not well known for me. I now only Green, Andresen and Galbraith. Thx

Going a bit in depth with some guys I know:

Ansoldi is pretty solid in terms of weight and force, have pretty good hands and good grit aswell.
Sirianni is a killer sniper if set up properly, not his best season this year but definetely has all the skills.
Scandella is known as a choker where all counts (and that's not good for WC), everywhere he's been in his hockey career he lost playoffs and so. If plays as he knows, could score some goals.
About Bernard, solid but still not mature enough to play on the first line, thus i see the 2nd line to be the official 1st on the WC.
Insam had a difficult year, fighting a lot of injuries, but have grit and weight and decent skills.
Two words on Rocco: good winger, better known for playmaking then shooting, it's probably one of the most undiscovered talents here!

Last thing: Edwardson deserved to get the cut!!! :D :D
