Features All modes and features from NHL 12 remain in NHL 13. The following features have been announced:[9] EA Sports Hockey IQ (AI): Makes CPU-controlled players and teammates smarter by reacting to everything on the ice, not just what they see in front of them. Skaters will be more easily able to prevent scoring opportunities. For goaltenders, Hockey IQ opens up for a lot of new different types of desperation saves as they are better able to identify "potential" scoring threats. As part of Hockey IQ, there are over five times as many strategy options in NHL 13 compared to previous titles of the current generation of the NHL series to replicate the real-life plays in the National Hockey League (NHL). According to Dean Richards, general manager of the NHL series, the development team spent more time on the AI development in NHL 13 than in the past three years combined.[7] True Performance Skating, a new skating engine based on physics, makes the player skating more dynamic and realistic with over 1,000 new animations. The engine is divided into three parts: explosiveness, top-end speed, and momentum. Explosiveness refers to how quickly a player can accelerate when gliding, being in a stationary state or how far a player can skate quickly. Top-end speed means that the players can skate as quickly as in real-life in their top speeds. Momentum is part of the physics; for example, a player skating at top speed may not as easily turn around when carrying the puck as compared to when skating at normal speed or just gliding. Also, a player skating at top speed has his shooting and passing accuracies decreased. Momentum also means that players have a harder time recovering from mistakes. The new animations, combined with the Skill Stick features, allow for a lot of new plays and dekes that can be pulled off. True Performance Skating is taglined "Every Stride Matters". Team First Presentation aims to make the in-game experience more authentic than previously. Team-specific presentations for the NHL teams have been added, and it's also possible to manually customize the experience. GM Connected: Allows players to play in online Be a GM leagues with human-controlled teams. Players can keep track of what's happening in their league with a mobile app. NHL Moments Live allows players to relive great moments from the 2011–12 NHL season. In addition, new moments will be uploaded as the 2012–13 NHL season progresses. Hockey Ultimate Team: The design of HUT has been revamped, the reward system improved and a new playoff format for HUT has been added. New features for player-card collections have been added to make it easier to create a HUT team. EA Sports Hockey League remains in the game and things like club captains and improved matchmaking have been added. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPD3p6HJF6w has amazing graphics and great animations. |

all I can say is that the skating physics is awesome. this is by far gonna be the best NHL game to date however there are still some physics related things that were not incorporated yet like Madden 13's new "balance physics" where the game simulates individual equilibrium. so now in madden you dont need to grab hold of a player to tackle them down, if you have enough momentum you can knock someone off or for example if the running back slips through the hole but then gets his foot caught by someone on the line of scrimmage as it usually happens, that running back will then be animated as if he is close to falling and if another player bumps into him having not even "pressed the tackle button", that running back whose balance has been interfered with will then fall to the ground due to their momentum and equilibrium. i hope that in nhl 14 they can incorporate this and make a very deep checking system. |

NHL 13 can have their updates and all that jazz, NHL 04 is still better in my opinion (not being able to pay $50-60 for a copy has alot to do with it too ) the ice looks just as clean as when the 3rd period started as well. What EA should do is figure out a way to curb all the idiotic gamertags and sickening trash talk. Games like Call of Duty, etc. are overrun with 10-year olds just waiting to call your mother a fag and every vulgar name in the book. |

HOLY CRAP!!!! The presentation looks SICK!! This sold it for me. I'm officially buying this game lol They finally fixed the broadcast camera! It pans back and forth, rather than being on a zip line. They brought back the net cam, I haven't seen it since NHL 2001. Lighting looks phenomenal, as well as the arenas [dohtml] <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0Yjjw0D9guY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[/dohtml] |

Looks really good this year, finally added some great things of the 2k-series. I'm especially looking forward for the GM-connected-mode which sounds awesome. But it's EA, they' ve always been great in promoting, let's see how the game feels when it's out. |

Hmmm, amazing game. But it can't beat NHL04 Rebuilt, sorry EA. It will never have the same graphics fidelity as our game. I mean, every single detail and ad in its place. This is too much important to me. EDIT: After seeing the video, arenas and broadcasting camera are already worth paying for. But I'll stick to it. NHL04 Rebuilt is still better, IMO. Just tried the demo, and it's unbelieveable how much it keeps reminding me of NHL 2k10. All cutscenes and that kind of stuff are like v.2 of NHL 2k10. Not a huge fan of the skating engine, but i think i will get used to it. It's an OK game EA, again. OK. |

I liked NHL 2k10 a lot... but console sports games are like cigarettes without nicotin... or coffee without caffeine... they don't have "a soul", like modded PC sports games. I don't even bother with NHL 13... it will be the same thing repackaged.... once again. Pretty to watch, decent gameplay but all the "small details" and real depth that make the sports game are missing. Those games don't even have box scores for f...cks sake....great "sport simulators"....!!? |

Yep, it's stupid to call them "sports simulators"... they are not... but they are fun playing when bored, or online / with your friends. Almost every year i say to myself that i won't buy this years NHL, but then i change my mind when the magazines start to praise the new game. They are never as good as the game-magazines say, though <_< But i think they are still good games. Im lucky when i can play the best hockey game in the world with this great community, and then the newest hockey game with my friends

In my opinion, it's all about finding a good online community to play in. Putting the gameplay aside, the main thing that draws me to 04 is the NEHL. For '12, I really enjoy the 6v6 play, and even if nothing changed I would still buy 13 to continue playing in the 6v6 community. As usual, the game looks fantastic based on the previews, and I'm looking forward to seeing what NEHL does with the GM connected mode. But it's hard to tell until the game officially drops. The demo doesn't give much of a preview. However, I've never played an NHL game that can top the online 1v1 versus play in 04 rebuilt. And I doubt 13 will. |

I saw demo review on youtube and true is, that I like some things and detail, especially shots from blue line from D-mans (thats almost imposible in 04), also nice goalies saves but skating still looks very unnaturally and also Vosto cybers are much more detailed and realistic +menu is really poor and loading screens sucks totally (no change since 06).Well it can be good game, but still not enough to motivate me for buying console. |
