HOCKEY IS HERE: KHL SEASON 2012-2013![]() Europe's biggest hockey league will be starting in just few days and the battle of fifth Gagarin Cup is about to begin! In last spring Dynamo Moscow won their first championship in KHL history and in this season the contest is even tougher when the league is even more competitive as Slovan Bratislava and HC Donbass will join the league. Yuri Babenko, the captain of Dynamo Moscow said in earlier interview that the team is ready to defend their title and do all it takes. "Last year (Avangard) Omsk gave us a huge challenge as we played the whole series. It could've maybe gone easier but nothing is easy when it comes to hockey and fighting for glory. Follow these teams Dynamo Moscow Does the defending champion have what it takes to crown themselves champions once again? The roster haven't changed much since last spring and top players like Marek Kvapil, Leo Komarov and Sergei Konkov are still in the team. Also Alexander Eremenko is still between the poasts so the possibility to do clean games are still around. What can we expect from one of the golden helmet player? ![]() Alexander Eremenko Avangard Omsk In last season Avangard Omsk was close to achieve the championship but had to give it up in final shakedown. The team is stronger than last year as Slovak forward Tomas Zaborsky joined the team. Also Alexander Frolov and Karri Rämö will build strong and solid overall when it comes to crucial games. ![]() Tomas Zaborsky SKA Saint Petersburg Last year's Western Conference winner and very dreadful team when it comes to making results. Players like Tony Mårtenson, NHL veteran Maxim Afinogenov, Patrick Thoresen, last year's golden helmet defender Dmitri Kalinin and 196 cm tall Evegeny Artyukhin can really be a huge appetite of destruction and seals the deal. Look out, here's our this year's Gagarin Cup winner bet. ![]() Evgeny Artyukhin Lokomotiv Yaroslavl It's been a year since the huge airplane tragedy and many people shared their tears for the team. In this season Lokomotiv will return the league and is fully rebuilt and is added players like Curtis Sanford, Vitaly Kolesnik, Staffan Kronwall, Niklas Hagman and Mikelis Redlihs. All we can hope them is very successful comeback and let them play entertaining hockey. ![]() Steffan Kronwall KHL 2012-2013 season TV presentation KHL-TV, Russian and Viasat Hockey presents you the full season coverage! One of these broadcasters will show you one game from each game day and the playoffs all the way to Gagarin Cup. Also you will get a chance to vote monthly one game which shown on TV! Full goal complitations of each TV match is available and it will offer a close up look in KHL. |

![]() ![]() [dohtml]<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5vhndtVM8XM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[/dohtml] The season opener is here! In the very first game of the season last season's finalists Dynamo Moscow and Avangard Omsk took a rematch and this time the visitors were better by a margine. Omsk's goal scorers Alexander Frolov and Tomas Zaborsky were in good shape as both scored one goal and Zaborsky's was the game winning goal. "I don't know what to say. I feel confident and I felt good right after the first minute and of course I'm satisfied that I managed to score a goal because the level of this league is very tough and you have to fight for every puck." Zaborsky told in post-game interview. Dynamo Moscow wasn't far away and the fight for full points was still alive to the very last minutes but the empty netter by Alexander Popov made impossible to make a comeback. "We played a good game this time but Omsk got one extra powerplay attempt and that cost us the victory. The season have only begun so anything basically happen." said Jakub Petruzalek who assisted the only Moscow's goal which was made by Leo Komarov. |

Wow, looking forward to see this, looks very nice so far. There are not so many KHL reports, so Im glad someone start it. Just few hints - Tomas Zaborsky is Slovak not Czech, and Stepanek is now player of HC Lev Prague.

![]() ![]() ![]() Tonight's televised KHL match between Amur Habarovsk and Atlant Mytischi brought good looking hockey and the packed up house had to unfortunantely for home town fans witness Amur's 5-2 loss. The home team led the game to the final minutes of the second but Rafael Batyrshin's slap shot on powerplay surprised screened Alexei Murygin. In third period Atlant scored three goals and sealed the victory with Konstantin Koltsov's empty netted goal. "We fell on our own mistakes and we had a chance to win this game but we have to remember that the game lasts 60 minutes and we played only perhaps 45 minutes of it." said Alexei Kosourov who scored and assisted one goal. ![]() ![]() ![]() Torpedo Nhizny Novgorod was visiting Sibir Novosibirsk on tonight's televised match. The game was in Torpedo's control as they led the game by three after 18 minutes of play. Torpedo's key players Radek Smolenak, Dmitri Bykov and Evgeny Varlamov finished two points each. Alexander Nikulin's shorthanded goal brought some hope to home team but it wasn't enough as Vitali Koval was in a game mood and caught 20 shots. Torpedo has now won two out of two game and is going to face Amur Khabarovsk in the next round. After that their road trip is having a stop as they face Lokomotiv Yaroslavl at home. Sibir will continue their home games in the next round when they will face Atlant Mytischi. ![]() ![]() ![]() Dinamo Minsk had to face a frustrating loss against Salavat Yulaev in tonight's televised match. UFA dominated the whole game and the final score described the whole scene of the match: 5-1. Oleg Saprykin was a well deserved player of the match as he scored two goals against Lars Haugen. Also Igor Mirnov and Alexander Stepanov collected two points. Minsk's only goal was done by Andrei Stas from Lukas Krajicek's pass but the game was quite lot sealed in that point. Yulaev has won now three games out of three and is going to be a well known championship candidate. ![]() ![]() ![]() KHL season have begun in kick start and tonight's rounds only match entertained us with electrifying collision when Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Dynamo Moscow were fighting for win. Fists were flying and tackles were given but also two goals lit the lamp and they were enough to ensure Magnitogorsk's victory. Denis Platonov's 1-0 goal came in second period and in third period Mats Zuccarello scored 2-0 goal on powerplay. Alexander Eremenko stopped 35 shots and Ari Ahonen took his first shutout of the season with 24 saves.
