 Okay... due to time issues I decided to make a "different" Season. This means I will simulate every other season game and play every other of them. All boxscores will be posted, by using the ESPN Scoreboard Calendar stats. I will also try to post some occasional screenshots & probably even videos of the games. Simulating the games might also increase the amount of injuries (lack of injuries by the user team is a slight problem in the mod). I definitely wanted to do this for a long time because our SM-Liiga modification is absolutely superb. All the genuine team musics are just an icing on the cake. I love it. I also love HIFK, which I (naturally as a Helsinki downtown-born guy) have been supporting since I was 4 years old... when my dad took me to my first SML hockey game. HIFK today might not be as big, nasty and ugly as it used to be... but my goal is to play physical hockey with the team anyway. I hope you'll enjoy the ride.   The anticipated Season 2012-2013 was about to begin. HIFK had just got a new head coach, Raimo Summanen, who was well known of his demanding ways. There had been some bad blood between the Helsinki teams in the pre-season but it was now all forgotten and both teams went there to play hockey. It was a tight, physical battle. Both teams were hitting hard but fair. Here's Jarkko Ruutu's elbow, which sent him to the penalty box at 8:11, 2nd.  It went to overtime and Jokerit scored. Steve Moses was the man of the match. Good luck with this, will be watching this. I also start an SM.Liiga season, with JYP Jyväskylä, SML is really nicely done, full of nice addons. GL

GAME 2 (Simulated) HIFK-HPK 2-4: Helsingin Jäähalli, Helsinki Finland A bad loss to HPK Hämeenlinna in the home opener. Tuomas Vänttinen scored 2 big goals for his team. Also, 2 important key players added to the injury reserve. Somervuori's injury didn't seem to be that bad but according to the team doctor Sailio was out for 2 weeks.   Coach Summanen said that he will replace Somervuori and Sailio with Iiro Pakarinen and Joni Töykkälä. NEXT Game: SaiPa (home) |

GAME 3 Helsingin Jäähalli, Helsinki Finland Very poor showing by HIFK in the home arena. The new guy, Pakarinen, was playing a solid game but SaiPa goalie Toivonen saved all 18 shots. Terrible season start... three losses. Screenshots.     3 points from Helsingin Jäähalli ain't a walk in the park. But it was today... IFK's performance was very anemic. Game 4 (Simulated) Ässät-HIFK 3-2: Isonmäen Jäähalli, Pori Finland Another loss to HIFK. Ässät played a solid home game. Joni Ortio was replaced after the 1st perid by Mika Norja in the goal. HIFK lost yet another player to the injury reserve: Ville Varakas (Rib Strain injury) HIFK has now 4 losses in a row.  Standings after 3/4 round. Doesn't look that good for IFK.

Cool... The simulation is a good idea because the chance of getting injured players is way more higher than playing all matches.

Game 5: Kivikylän Areena, Rauma Finland HIFK got a good start in the game. Arttu Luttinen scored. A hard backhand shot.  But it was back to normal again. Petri Koskinen scored a dirty goal and tied the game.  Then... a penalty shot. Melart hooked Koskenkorva from behind and he got a rare one.  And he put it in. Mika Norja was furious.  Jesse Virtanen finished the game for Lukko. HIFK got its fifth loss in a row. A terrible start of the season.
