Tappara has bad injuries. V.Nieminen is a big part of the team. It would be a great rival against Jokerit in the finals, maybe it`s too early to think about that but still. Good luck!

This time it was HIFK's turn to start the scoring. And it was probably the quickest goal of the season. Markus Granlund decided to test Noronen's concentration and even to his own surprise the shot went in. It was a lot similar than the one he scored in the 1st game. 15 seconds played and it was already 1-0 HIFK. What a start!

Posted Image

Jukka Peltola quickly tied the game to 1-1. Backhand shot to the upper left corner.

Posted Image

Then Mikko Jokela crushed the puck in. It was a lucky bounce from Saravo's leg. 2-1 HIFK.

Posted Image

Then the Man, Toni Söderholm stole the puck from Tappara defenders and placed a deadly wrist shot into the corner of the net. 3-1 HIFK.

Posted Image

Tappara is a mentally tough team. They came back again. Lucenius made it 2-3.

Posted Image

Then Talaja put the puck in. Nobody really knew for sure how it went in because the Tappara goal was so crowded. 4-2 HIFK.

Posted Image

Söderholm secured the win with his 2nd goal of the night. He has really stepped up and has taken the leading role in the HIFK defense. 5-2 HIFK. Game over.

Posted Image

Tappara got a consolation goal but it was just cosmetics. The series continues in Tampere from 1-1 numbers.

Posted Image

"We did a lot of good things tonight as a team, we had a plan and stuck with it," HIFK coach Jalonen said. "Everybody did what we asked them. The guys supported each other, we made the puck work for us."

2 away games in a row in Tampereen Hakametsän Jäähalli.

The game started slowly but at 9:43 Tappara started the scoring. Umisevic got a good pass from Barkov and he had plenty of time to tip it in. 1-0 Tappara. Note: Barkov had a whoppin' 10 shots tonight.

Posted Image

Sailio seems to be another player who have raised his profile tremendously in the playoffs. He tied the game from Melart's pass. 1-1.

Posted Image

Kurvinen continues his hot streak. Hard slapshot to the upper corner. 2-1 HIFK.

Posted Image

Jukka Peltola tied the game. HIFK coach was furious because the HIFK defenders simply couldn't keep Umisevic on hold. Great pass again which resulted in goal.

Posted Image

Noronen has been shaky in both games and the coach told players to shoot from anytime, any angle. Somervuori did just that. 3-2 HIFK.

Posted Image

Barkov tied the game and it was very tight, careful hockey until the last minutes. Then Sim Liivik did it. Sailio rushed through the Tappara D-men and passed to Liivik who was completely free in the middle. Great moment to start playoff scoring, huh?

Posted Image

Somervuori put it in the empty net and HIFK won 5-3. Series is now 2-1 to HIFK.

Somervuori really earned his roster spot tonight. Benching Kuhta and dressing E.S was an excellent move by the coach.

Game 4 in Tampere got a bad start as Aleksander Barkov had been left alone on the goal corner. He got a pass from Saravo and made it 0-1 Tappara.

Posted Image

In the second period Hannula took a penalty and the same guy scored again. Barkov is very skilled young man and tonight HIFK defenders found him very difficult to stop. 0-2 Tappara.

Posted Image

HIFK couldn't get anything going. Kankaanperä and Melart had been going under eachother's skin all through the season Melart decided to drop his gloves and "Kanki" responded. Maybe this was the spark that HIFK needed.

Posted Image

But nothing was going HIFK's way tonight. Noronen stopped everything and when HIFK pulled their goalie Connolly put it in the empty net.

Posted Image

Lights out. 0-3 Tappara.

Posted Image

Frustrated and tired. Series tied 2-2.

Game 5 in Helsinki. Tappara had changed their goalie. Apparently Noronen wasn't feeling too good and Juha Metsola took his place. Pretty surprising move by the coaching staff.

This time HIFK started the scoring during Erkinjuntti's interference penalty. Joakim Eriksson stopped the clocks at 04:02.

Posted Image

Mika Hannula made it 2-0 HIFK and Joakim Eriksson scored another PP goal in the second period. This was during Umisevic's hooking penalty.

Posted Image

Roope Talaja made it 4-0 HIFK. Then Jeff Ulmer broke Ortio's shutout. 4-1.

Posted Image

Mika Hannula scored his second of the night. 5-1 HIFK, which was the end result. Roope Talaja had a 5-point night. That was amazing from a guy who's performance during the regular season was mediocre at best.

Great victory and the series is now 3-2 HIFK. Tappara is facing elimination in Tampere.

Tappara was facing elimination tonight. Juha Metsola continued in the goal despite his rather shaky appearance in Game 5.

HIFK took the lead with Ville Peltonen's wrist shot, during Juha Leimu's penalty. 1-0 HIFK.

Posted Image

But Barkov was doing it again... he evened the score with a hard slapshot. "Kanki" got the assist. 1-1.

Posted Image

Perrault scored a go-ahead goal for HIFK but Tappara equalized right after that. Jukka Peltola put it in from the goal corner.

Posted Image

Jeff Ulmer made it 2-3 Tappara...

Posted Image

...and Ville Varakas equalized. 3-3.

Posted Image

Then Ilari Melart tripped Peltola from behind when he was in a breakaway. Referee crossed his arms. It was a penalty shot. A great chance for Tappara but Ortio saved Peltola's rather poor and nervous attempt. Still 3-3.

Posted Image

Tappara created a lot of pressure and finally Chris Connolly got lucky. Erkinjuntti incresed Tappara's lead to 5-3.

Posted Image

In the 3rd period Eriksson made it first 4-5 for HIFK but then Barkov scored again. He has been deadly in this series. 6-4 Tappara.

Posted Image

Mika Hannula lifted HIFK hopes with his 6-5 goal at 19:05.

Posted Image

There was less than one minute left. HIFK pulled Norja and created an enormous pressure but it wasn't boucing for HIFK tonight. Tappara evened the series to 3-3.

The deciding Game #7 in Helsinki.
