Weird, you have had 2-3 penalty shots this season and i never seem to get them. What i remember, the last regulation time-penalty shot was from my Nashville season back in 2010. Well, good luck to game 3 Pidä pää kylmänä ja mee loppuun asti.

Thanks, all. @Xiri: Penalty shots come when you're tripping from behind... using the hook doesn't create them but the poke checks do... I use a lot of poke check... just my playing style I guess. |

![]() HIFK got a great start as Ville Peltonen scored after only 43 seconds. Looked like Blues were still asleep. ![]() Roope Talaja made it 0-2 HIFK. This was a weak shot and it was definitely a cheap goal allowed by Riksman who looked really nervous & shaky in the 1st period. ![]() Joel Perrault made it 3-0. He had plenty of time to put it in. Where was the Blues defense? ![]() Ex HIFK-player Robert Nyholm's face shows how Blues felt at this moment. ![]() 2nd and 3rd periods were scoreless but HIFK played really physical and hit everything in sight. ![]() HIFK took series lead 2-1 with a convincing victory. ![]() BLUES 0 HIFK 3 1st period 00:43 IFK GOAL (0:1) VILLE PELTONEN JOAKIM ERIKSSON 03:30 IFK GOAL (0:2) ROOPE TALAJA MIKA HANNULA 18:06 BLU PEN ROBERT NYHOLM Hooking, minor 18:58 IFK PPG (0:3) JOEL PERRAULT MIKA HANNULA 2nd period 07:06 IFK PEN MIKA HANNULA Obstruction tripping, minor 17:45 BLU PEN TOMMI HUHTALA Hooking, minor 3rd period 07:21 IFK PEN MIKKO VAINONEN Obstruction Holding, minor ![]() Other Quarterfinals: SaiPa-Jyp 1-2 (SaiPa lead the series 2-1) Ässät-Jokerit 3-2 (Jokerit lead the series 2-1) Tappara-HPK 3-2 (Tappara lead the series 2-1) |

Yeah... because I simulated every other game it's been a quick season. Good option for people who have time limitations. |

![]() HIFK started the scoring early again in game 4. And again it was Ville Peltonen who made it to the scoresheets. 1-0 HIFK. ![]() Teemu Rinkinen was the best player of the night. Here he ties the game. 1-1. ![]() HIFK's best player was Toni Söderholm. Here he sends Tommi Huhtala flying with a perfectly timed hip check. ![]() Blues took 2-1 lead but then Söderholm stroke. A shorthanded goal that raised HIFK spirits a lot. ![]() Unfortunately Blues took the lead again, during the same PP. Varakas made a bad screen for Ortio and Rinkinen slapped it in. 3-2 Blues. ![]() It was a weird game. Söderholm netted his second SHG and then Blues avenged it almost immediately. 4-3 Blues. ![]() Niko Nieminen made it 5-3. It wasn't Ortio's best night, that's for sure. ![]() Granlund lifted the HIFK hopes once more and made it 5-4. ![]() HIFK pulled Ortio and even got a great scoring chance for Perrault but Blues stole the puck and scored an empty net goal. Series tied 2-2. ![]() BLUES 6 HIFK 4 1st period 02:21 IFK GOAL (0:1) VILLE PELTONEN TONI SODERHOLM 07:25 BLU GOAL (1:1) TEEMU RINKINEN NIKO NIEMINEN, MARK LEE 18:24 IFK PEN ROOPE TALAJA Tripping, minor 19:31 BLU PPG (2:1) KRISTIAN KUUSELA HENRI LAURILA 2nd period 15:54 IFK PEN ROOPE TALAJA Hooking, minor 16:03 IFK SHG (2:2) TONI SODERHOLM JONI TOYKKALA 16:47 BLU PPG (3:2) TEEMU RINKINEN MARCO ROSA, TOMMI HUHTALA 3rd period 07:56 IFK PEN ILARI MELART Tripping, minor 08:23 IFK SHG (3:3) TONI SODERHOLM Unassisted 08:40 BLU PPG (4:3) TOMMI HUHTALA Unassisted 13:55 BLU GOAL (5:3) NIKO NIEMINEN Unassisted 14:59 IFK GOAL (5:4) MARKUS GRANLUND JOAKIM ERIKSSON, VILLE PELTONEN 19:54 BLU ENG (6:4) TOMI SALLINEN TOMI STAHLHAMMAR ![]() Other Quarterfinals: SaiPa-JyP 3-2 (SaiPa lead the series 3-1) Ässät-Jokerit 2-3 (Jokerit lead the series 3-1) Tappara-HPK 3-2 (Tappara lead the series 3-1) |

![]() HIFK swapped Joni Ortio to Mika Norja for the game #5. Not that the loss in Game #4 was Ortio's fault or anything but admittedly he allowed few easy goals. And besides, Norja had been solid backup in the regular season as well. It was worth a shot. Also, big Mikko "Knockout" Kurvinen replaced Martti Järventie (flu). HIFK used their best weapon: intimidation. IFK might not be as big and bad as it used to be but they still have decent size and some gritty players. Blues "golden helmet" Teemu Rinkinen was a marked man. ![]() Joni Töykkälä was quite a pest for the Blues players too. Here he's discussing with Juuso Riksman, not congratulating him for the last win I'm sure. ![]() First period was scoreless. Late in the 2nd Mika Hannula finally scored. It was his first goal of the playoffs. 1-0 HIFK. ![]() Unfortunately for HIFK, Mika Sallinen evened it quickly. 1-1. ![]() Corey Elkins has been a bit quiet so far but tonight he scored the GWG. Gigantic slap shot and Riksman didn't have a chance. 2-1 HIFK. ![]() Joel Perrault put it in the empty net and secured the win. ![]() HIFK lead the series 3-2. Blues is facing elimination at home. Their bench showed a signs of anger and frustration, which leads me to believe this might not be over just yet. ![]() HIFK 3 BLUES 1 1st period 00:57 IFK PEN TONI SODERHOLM Tripping, minor 2nd period 08:30 IFK PEN VILLE PELTONEN Roughing, minor 12:28 IFK PEN VILLE PELTONEN Hooking, minor 16:27 IFK GOAL (1:0) MIKA HANNULA ROOPE TALAJA, JOEL PERRAULT (delayed penalty) 17:58 BLU GOAL (1:1) TOMI SALLINEN VALTTERI VIRKKUNEN, MIKKO KUUKKA 3rd period 09:13 IFK GOAL (2:1) COREY ELKINS EERO SOMERVUORI, MIKKO KURVINEN 19:35 IFK ENG (3:1) JOEL PERRAULT MIKA HANNULA, ROOPE TALAJA ![]() Other Quarterfinals: JyP-SaiPa 3-2 (SaiPa lead the series 3-2) Ässät-Jokerit 2-3 (Jokerit win the series 4-1) Tappara-HPK 3-2 (Tappara win the series 4-1) |

![]() Ortio was back back to Game Six. Kurvinen stayed in the D as Järventie hadn't been fully recovered. Arttu Luttinen started the scoring for HIFK. He's one of the more experienced players who has really came forward in the playoffs. ![]() Toni Söderholm was forechecking deep in the Blues zone, stole the puck, passed it to Töykkälä who found Mikko Kurvinen free. Kurvinen scored his first ever playoffs goal (and second of the season). Couldn't have been timed better. 2-0 HIFK. ![]() Blues was very disciplined and didn't take penalties. And 3:16 in the 2nd period Valtteri Virkkunen made it 1-2 from Jalvanti's pass. ![]() The spirit of HIFK, Toni Söderholm made a beautiful goal after a few nice moves. 3-1 HIFK. ![]() Blues didn't give up. At 18:49 3rd they scored a typical dirty Blues goal. Huhtala (their best player of the series) stole the puck in the offensive zone from the HIFK defenders and literally smashed it in. Blues still had a slim chance. ![]() But whatever hope there was left, Corey Elkins ended that. An empty net goal. (1+1 tonight for Elkins). Good showing. ![]() HIFK won the series 4-2 and advanced to the Semifinals. ![]() BLUES 2 HIFK 4 1st period 03:09 IFK PEN EERO SOMERVUORI Boarding, minor 07:22 IFK GOAL (0:1) ARTTU LUTTINEN COREY ELKINS 14:20 IFK PEN MIKKO JOKELA Tripping, minor 15:59 IFK SHG (0:2) MIKKO KURVINEN JONI TOYKKALA, TONI SODERHOLM 2nd period 03:16 BLU GOAL (1:2) VALTTERI VIRKKUNEN JOONAS JALVANTI 3rd period 06:52 IFK GOAL (1:3) TONI SODERHOLM ROOPE TALAJA, JOAKIM ERIKSSON 18:49 BLU GOAL (2:3) TOMMI HUHTALA Unassisted 19:07 IFK ENG (2:4) COREY ELKINS EERO SOMERVUORI, ARTTU LUTTINEN ![]() Other quarterfinals: SaiPa-JyP 2-1 (SaiPa win the series 4-2) |

Jokerit has already taken the first loss of the series. Very surprising start but then again if you look at the scratch department you'll see that they have three important key players injured. Other semifinal: Jokerit-SaiPa 2-3 (SaiPa lead the series 1-0) ![]() ![]() ![]() Playoff scoring leaders.

![]() The scouting reports were wrong. Erkinjuntti was dressed today. HIFK replaced Eero Somervuori with veteran Kimmo Kuhta. Somervuori has been somewhat disappointing in the whole season. Tappara got a great start for their semifinal run when Aleksander Barkov got a rebound and put it in. 1-0 Tappara. ![]() Jussi Makkonen made it 2-0 Tappara. A great behind the goal pass by Lucenius. ![]() HIFK stroke back immediately. Markus Granlund tried his luck and to everyone's surprise it went in! Mika Noronen wasn't probably ready for a long distance slapshot like this. Rather easy goal. ![]() Sami Venäläinen took a penalty and HIFK Captain Peltonen punished. The game was tied. Very important goal just before the end of 2nd period. 2-2. ![]() Then Antti Erkinjuntti got a chance. A sharp wrister went through Ortio's pads. 3-2 Tappara. ![]() Noronen was constantly complaining to the refs. ![]() Sami Venaläinen made it 4-2 and it was starting to look bad for HIFK. ![]() But then Talaja made it 3-4. An ugly goal that HIFK desperately needed. ![]() But there was only less than 30 seconds left. Coach Jalonen took a timeout and pulled Ortio. ![]() HIFK managed to get two good shots but Noronen kept his cool. Tappara took the Semifinals opener and lead the series 1-0. ![]() There were some heated emotions between Tappara's Markus Kankaanperä and IFK's Melart. Melart wanted to fight but "Kanki" refused. These two ex-teammates badmouthed eachother many times during the game. Maybe the explosion happens in the next game?
