GM Xiri's contract ends to this season, but he's pretty sure he will continue with Minnesota, as he was the first GM to get the Cup to Minnesota. Now he's busy with NHL 2004 though. But suddenly, his phone rings. "Craig", he says to himself when he sees who calls, the Minnesota Wild owner. "Maybe i'll get a new contract and a huge payroll". "What are you doing, Xiri?" "Not much, or actually working on our new team to next season... i've planned to buy the Devils player, umm... Parise was his name!" "Well, i have bad news for you... the NHL will have a lockout... wait, haven't you heard about it yet?" "Well, umm... no?" Xiri remembered that he had played NHL 2004 for the last 4 days. "So you know what this means, right? You can look up a new job for yourself. Bye" "But... but... Stanley Cup... and..." But it was too late. The Wild owner had hung up on him, and there was not much to do. 1 of August 2012 - St. Paul, Minnesota, 7 AM The annoying Nokia Tune woke Xiri up. He opened his eyes and looked at the calling number... looks finnish. "Xiri talking". "Timo Rajala here, good morning" "Who?" "The General Manager of Rauman Lukko... in SM-liiga, you know" "Yeees...? What do you want to talk about... when you woke me up like this?" "Well, we heard that you are kind of unemployeed for next season" "Yes?" "Would you like to work for us?" ---------- And so the story begins I know, i thought i wouldn't write another season report this season, but while reading trent's and kerimaja's amazing SML-reports, i suddenly got a sudden urge to start one myself. With my favourite team. I think i'll simulate about 50% of the games, but not every other game, i won't play those which i think aren't that important/interesting. Next post i'll do some roster info and stuff.

Charter Member Posts: 1,631 Group: Members Member #10 Joined: April 5, 2011	Mid-August 2012 - Rauman Lukko office, 4 PM "It sure looks like a smaller work-space than in Minnesota", Xiri thought. "Well, anything goes, i guess", he showed his positive attitude, and took a look at his desk. One old HP-computer, someone's half-empty cup of coffee and a Rauman Lukko pennon. He started the computer, the wallpaper was the Star Girl of "Seiska"-magazine, from November 2009. ----------- KUMMOLA-CUP 2012. It was time for the most important pre-season tournament in Finland. It took 3 days, Lukko won against Pelicans and Blues 2-0 and went to the final against Jokerit, and lost there 4-2. In interviews he told that biggest problem was in scoring, but it would fix itself after a couple of games, when players aren't that rusty anymore. Kimmo Koskenkorva had scored 2 goals against Blues, and he was also the top scorer of Lukko in the glorious Kummola-cup. Vehanen and Nielsen played good games, so there wouldn't be a goaltender-problem. The traditional tournament had woke just as much interest in people as expected. This picture shows the almost sold-out Barona Areena in Espoo, in Blues-Ilves match. ----------- The season starts against �ss�t, the rivalry of Western Coast, it will be an interesting match for sure.

Project Leader Posts: 11,048 Group: Administrator Member #2 Joined: April 4, 2011	Set the commentary volume to 0... I use that on my SML season... it feels much more authentic without English commentary... you get the real "live" feeling of the games. Just a suggestion.

And trent, yep, did that already in preseason Would it by the way be possible to change fanchants for teams, i mean many Liiga-teams have nowdays their own supporter-clubs (Raumam Boja, Etel�p��ty, Nurkka). It'd be great to have some singing in the background. ----------- Xiri found himself on the parking lot of the �ss�t home-barn walking around and smoking. He suddenly realized he hasn't been smoking since teenage years. Was he nervous? That's bullshit... "I've been through two season in Minnesota... this is nothing compared to it". He looked at his watch; just 1 hour to the start against �ss�t. Better go inside. "People from Pori call themselves crazy, like it would be a good thing... i like to call them idiots" Getting ready..! Lukko scored the first goal, good start to the match. But in the end �ss�t seemed to be the better team. Something did just not work today. Maybe Vehanen was a little bit nervous to start in the net after a while in Russia? Or then just too many penalties. �ss�t wins 5-3 (forgot ONCE AGAIN to turn on trent's AI when i start a season... dang it!) Box score. There were cameras everywhere in the Lukko's locker room. Most of them were around Vehanen, and when the new GM Xiri stepped into there, the hell begun. "It was not quite the start you wanted to?" "Why did this happen?" "What went wrong?" Everybody seemed to ask questions. "No comments".

Charter Member Posts: 1,631 Group: Members Member #10 Joined: April 5, 2011	The City of Rauma was ready to go all bananas once again, when it was time for the first home-game of the season. SaiPa from Lappeenranta came to visit, and the homecrowd would'nt be happy with anything else than a win on regulation time. I just love the new/old logo of Lukko, the lock. Lukko started scoring, here's the 2-0 goal by Milan Jurcina, a pretty sweet onetimer. Also Tukonen got to feel what scoring is like for the first time this season. It wasn't an easy game for Wiikman... this guy still played for Lukko last year. Now he was getting destroyed by them. SaiPa almost managed to get back. Very soon they came from 3-0 to 3-2, and even hit the post once, but didn't manage to tie the game. First win for Petri Vehanen, and for Lukko. Box score. Next up we'll travel to Helsinki against Jokerit, and that game will be probably simmed.

The team bus to Helsinki would start at 7 AM, there's still good time... 2 PM!? 14.00!? "HOW FU**ING LONG DID I SLEEP?". "Well, i guess i'll just read the scores from the MTV3 teletext, page 221, after the game is over" he said and went to the freezer to grab a Kukko-beer. ---------- Unfortunate loss against Jokerit, Straka with 1+1. ---------- Having alot of fun with SM-liiga, now i'm going to play my next game against HIFK. BTW, i was just planning to have these dialogs in the beginning, to create a backstory, but would you like to follow GM Xiri's life in Rauma in the future games too?

This would be a though match for sure, HIFK is one of the best teams in SM-liiga right now. Kivikyl�n Areena/�ij�nsuon j��halli HIFK with a good start. Here's the 1-0 goal from Perreault after 28 seconds... ...and this was the result of the 3rd goal from 5 shots, when just 8 minutes of play had passed. Vehanen in, Nielsen to the bench. A great hit, through the glass action! With Vehanen's good performance and Lukko's 3-1 goal, there was still a chance to a home-win. But IFK scored a couple in the 3rd. Mika Norja with a phenomenal effort in the net, stopping 34 of 35 shots. Tack och hej! Stats talk for themselves. Pelicans will visit Kivikyl�n Areena for next match. Lukko's start hasn't been the best possible, 4 games and 1 win. We'll, we will rise from here.

Perhaps use the extracted boxscore for the user games and the scoring summary for the simulated ones? Just an idea. PS: I assigned a new team color for Lukko. See here.

Not just the same report after report-thing, but adding the little storyline with them! So i guess i'll make up something more for upcoming games. Trent, yeah i might start adding the extracted boxscore in the future. This is a really fun mod to play, expecially the SM-liiga. Feels damn realistic (although the crowd noices are about as loud as in Suomi-Sarja, the 3rd tier, some singing and chanting would be a cool addition..!). Right now Markus Granlund is the top scorer 10 points in 5 games, not bad.
