The whole team worked together as one unit and with a lot of discipline got the job done. He one-timed it and the shot got past goaltender <strong>Johan Holmqvist</strong>, who almost got his glove on it. <br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Tjarnqvist_1_0_zps38b9497c.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> Brynäs surprinsingly fed from this goal and had the momentum for most of the period. But they had huge difficulties getting the puck on net. <br /> At the ten minute mark, they had only gotten two shots on goal and when the period ended they had only amassed one more shot. But it wasn't like they were not trying. Rögle played it tight and didn't offer a lot of space for them to handle the puck on. But Rögle's defensive tactic only accumilated in six shots for themselves. But at least they were up by one going into the second period. <br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Second Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="107" colspan="3" align="center">But the offense got going. Five minutes into the period, Rögle had fired six shots on net and the only thing that was in the way was Johan Holmqvist. Holmqvist made a huge save on <strong>Lasse Kukkonen </strong>when a shot from <strong>Daniel Zaar </strong>bounced right out to Kukkonen. The defenseman had an open net but Holmqvist recovered enough to kick the puck out with an oldschool save. <br /> But despite doing his part, he was hung out to dry several times by his teammates. And on a power play, <strong>Christopher Liljewall </strong>made it 2-0 when <strong>Tom Preissing </strong>found him all alone in front of the net and the forward managed to put it five-hole on Holmqvist. <br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Liljewall_2_0_zps775b2a73.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> Rögle kept dominating in both ends and Brynäs continued struggling with getting puck on net while they also had problems in the own end. <br /> But thanks to Holmqvist, the score was still 2-0 when they headed to the dressing room for the final period.</td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Third Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="80" colspan="3" align="center">It was far more even in the third. Brynäs cleaned up their defense and helped goaltender Holmqvist to keep the puck out of the net. <br /> But so was Rögle. They went down one man ten minutes in to the period, but executed a fine penalty kill. Brynäs did the same thing <br /> with the two penalties they got in the period. But it was looking more that Rögle were just wanted the time to go and didn't look that interested in scoring, a concerning thing since they lost a game behaviouring like that. <br /> But they were lucky and Brynäs never got close scoring and when the last minute came the crowd stood up and cheered for their home team all the way to the buzzer sounded. <br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="21" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Interviews and summary</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="54" colspan="3" align="center"><p>The disciplined, tight defense they managed to pull off tonight really surprised me. I was like all the pieces finally came to place. <br /> I know it's early in the season and there's plenty of time to screw things up but the more I see this team play, the more hope I get.<br /> "We're starting to get to know each other a bit better now and how every player functions. But we battled hard the whole game and got the result we wanted. He skated fast into the zone but got caught up in the right corner by a LHC-defenseman. But Tjärnqvist tangled himself out of the situation and went for a wrap around and <strong>Christian Engstrand </strong>in the net almost got there to seal the open net but wasn't quick enough, fortionally for Rögle.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Tjarnqvist_1_0_zps5cb7e340.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> They killed off the rest of the penalty a few minutes later they found themselves on a 5 on 3 powerplay which LHC effectively killed.<br /> Despite the two-man disadvantage, they worked methodically and didn't get fatigued despite the pressure. It was quite impressive actually to see.<br /> Fourteen minutes in, <strong>Alexander Bonsaksen </strong>headed for the penalty box for holding but Rögle only got thirty seconds on the penalty kill as LHC:s <strong>Mattias Weinhandl </strong>got two minutes for interference. The four on four didn't result in any goal for either team. Weinhandl was handed another minor at 19:05 but the referee, who had blown the second half of the period apart, found a penalty on <strong>Mattias Tjärnqvist</strong> and both team once again had to play four on four. With all the penalties, neither of the teams had the momentum yet and the game was very open at this point.<br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Second Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="217" colspan="3" align="center">Rögle found themselves on the penalty kill once again three minutes in as <strong>Jakob Johansson </strong>took a minor for obstruction hooking. But Linköping wasn't anywhere near of scoring as the penalty kill literally owned their power play. <strong>Dennis Everberg</strong>, one of the best players on the penalty kill, got close scoring when he stole the puck on the defensive blueline, got a breakaway and got past Christian Engstrand but the goaltender sprawled with his right pad to make the save. He made a couple of more saves on LHC:s own power play and really bailed his team out.<br /> To spark his team, <strong>Lee Goren </strong>challenged <strong>Tobias Törnqvist </strong>with a scrap. The pair fought a hard one but it ended with the linesmen separating the two and sending them both to the dressing room as they were done for the night.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Tornqvist_Goren_Fight_zps7dc7c36b.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> LHC hardly gained any momentum from the fight though. Rögle kept dominating in the offensive zone but they had a hard time solving the goaltender. Engstrand got a piece on every puck it seemed but without any help it was just a matter of time before the next goal would get past him. And at 16:50 it did. Dennis Everberg twisted and turned behind Engstrand's net and managed to fool him enough to create an opening by the left post and the goaltender wasn't quick enough to get there.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Everberg_2_0_zps9d6de2c0.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> The period ended with Rögle leading with 27-14 in shots and 2-0 in goals. The period was quite one-sided but thanks to goaltender Christian Engstrand, LHC still had a chance of winning this game.<br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Third Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="161" colspan="3" align="center">And less than a minute into the period, LHC got the chance of pulling it within one as <strong>Daniel Sondell </strong>got a minor for hooking. They needed just fifty-seven seconds to convert as Mattias Weinhandl fed <strong>Carl Söderberg </strong>with a great pass through the traffic and Söderberg one-timed it past goaltender <strong>Jonas Fransson</strong>, who up by now had a pretty quiet evening. <br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Soderberg_2_1_zpsae6c8712.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> But the gap would increase to two once again eight minutes in. <strong>Rastislav Pavlikovsky </strong>sat in the penalty box when Jakob Johansson fed <strong>Alexander Barta </strong>with a pass from the right corner. Barta turned 180 degress and fired a fast slapshot that went into the far corner of the net behind Engstrand.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Barta_3_1_zps957125df.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> Less than a minute later, <strong>Jesper B. Jenssen </strong>headed to the penalty box for tripping and once again LHC had a chance of pulling it within one. <br /> But this time, Fransson and the rest of penalty kill were flawless and kept them from scoring another one.<br /> And the story was basically the same until the end and Rögle could cash in their third straight victory.<br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="21" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Interviews and summary</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="54" colspan="3" align="center"><p>Center of attention after the game was forward Dennis Everberg, who scored his second career SEL-goal and was a prominent figure on the penalty kill. And this was another reciept that coach Dan Tangnes indeed made the right choice on putting him there.<br /> "He looks so comfortable out there every time he steps out on the ice. He's not chipping in many points but that's not his role and he knows that. <br /> He is going to be one of most important players this season, that's for sure," Tangnes said after the game.<br /> <br /> Mattias Tjärnqvist added:<br /> "I mean, he's just 21 years old and he's playing like a gritted veteran out there. It was nice to see him score as well but I know that's not his last one," he said. Everberg himself was pretty humble as most players are:<br /> "It's been going pretty good this year so far. I was injured most of last season and I practiced hard to get back into the roster. <br /> But I have great guys around me so it just makes my job so much easier," he said.<br /> <br /> Dennis Everberg has been impressive so far, no doubt. But he's not the only one. Eighteen-year old <strong>Daniel Zaar </strong>and <strong>Tobias Törnqvist </strong>also has made quite an impact. Although Zaar has just one goal and Törnqvist so far is scoreless, both make up for lack of offensive production with hard work and determination everytime they step out on the ice. And that's just what Rögle needs. As I said before, the coaching staff needs to get everything they got out of their players if they want a ticket to the big show next year as well. And so far, they have succeded so far. <br /> And if they do continue getting that, Rögle will not only be in the SEL next season, they will also head to the playoffs. <br /> </p></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Next game</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center">Coming up is an away game against the first-placed Luleå HF (4-0-0-2). They have the SEL strongest goaltending tandem so far in David Rautio (1-2-0, 1,60 GAA) And Jonas Gustafsson (3-0-0, 1,33 GAA) and the best penalty kill, having not allowed a single goal so far. The Abbott brothers are also on a hot streak and although having a few key players on IR, they doesn't seem to be bothered by it. But the first period really drained us on strength and we had to go uphill for the rest of the game. Rögle easily fended off all attacks and got more shots on net than Luleå. At 07:40 it was time again as <strong>Lasse Kukkonen </strong>got a minor for hooking. A little over a minute later, Rögle found themselves on a 3 on 5 penalty kill as <strong>Alexander Bonsaksen </strong>got a questionable call for obstruction hooking. And with the two-man advantage, Luleå got closer and closer to the first goal of the night but <strong>Martin Gerber</strong> handled the shots he faced with excellence.<br /> Rögle killed the penalty on Kukkonen but twenty-nine seconds later, they were once again on a 3 on 5 penalty kill as <strong>Martin Strbak</strong> was handed a minor for hooking. As he was speaking to the referee while skating to the penalty box he just shook his head and laughed in redicule at the call.<br /> And it didn't end there. Just twenty-two seconds later, the referee found yet another hooking penalty, this time on <strong>Mike Iggulden</strong>. <br /> Team captain <strong>Jakob Johansson </strong>went out and talked with the referee, obviously frustrated with all the calls. <br /> But the play went on. The killed the penalty on Bonsaksen but just a minute later, their sixth penalty came as <strong>Tobias Törnqvist </strong>got a minor for...you guessed right! And the story repeated itself once again as Rögle killed a penalty only to find themselves handed another one.<br /> This time, it was a tripping call on Bonsaksen. But Rögle perseveared, and sorted it out and looked very confident out there. <br /> But a failed clearence by Lasse Kukkonen lead to a turnover and with a quick pass from <strong>Joonas Vikho</strong>, <strong>Toni Koivisto </strong>fired a shot on net which Gerber didn't have a chance on taking.<br /> <br /> NO PIC AVAILABLE (Damn Fraps...)<br /> <br /> A bit disappointing for Rögle, who had fought so hard the whole period. But when the period ended, the score was just 1-0 despite Luleå winning the shots 19-4(!). But the shots would have been the double if it wasn't for Rögle's tight defense.<br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Second Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="119" colspan="3" align="center">But five minutes into the period, Rögle got the chance to get back into the game. Joonas Vikho got a minor for hooking and the SEL best penalty kill unit went to work. Up to this game, Luleå hadn't allowed a single goal while shorthanded. But Rögle needed just twenty seconds to burst that bubble.<br /> Daniel Sondell, who also was hundred percent in a category: points not produced. But Sondell got the puck at center ice, turned around and skated into the zone and fired a determined slapshot past <strong>Jonas Gustafsson </strong>to make it 1-1.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Sondell_1_1_zpsdc83996d.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> The rest of period went scoreless but it was a period filled with a lot of great plays and the tempo was very high. <br /> No more penalties were given either but the fact was that both teams played very clean and it really wasn't nescessary.<br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Third Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="161" colspan="3" align="center">Luleå got ahead early when <strong>Linus Persson </strong>fired a quick wristshot by the right face off circle and Gerber didn't get down quick enough to make the save. <br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Persson_1_2_zps836dd5ec.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> But Rögle got right back into the game. Mattias Tjärnqvist stole the puck from Toni Koivisto at center ice, made a smooth pass to <strong>Alexander Barta</strong> who flew past Luleå's defense and deked past Gustafsson for the tying goal.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Barta_2_2_zpsab5b5c2c.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> The team's spend some time on four on four midway through the period but great goaltending prevented any goals. Luleå dominated the period from here. While Rögle managed just one shot on net, Luleå piled up eight shots. The closest they got was when <strong>Cam Abbott </strong>took care of a rebound created by his bother <strong>Chris Abbott</strong>. With a good portion of the net open, he managed to hit the post. Rögle's only shot came in the last second of the period when <strong>Dennis Everberg </strong>almost got it past Gustafsson with a wrister but the goaltender went oldschool, stacking the pads.<br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="21" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Overtime</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="21" colspan="3" align="center">There was no doubt who wanted the win more. But forward <strong>Mike Iggulden </strong>wasn't.<br /> "I think we could have made more of an effort offensively. I mean, how many shots did we get on net? Twenty?<br /> Oh, just sixteen? Few shots as that doesn't win hockey games. They (Luleå) wasn't that good defensively I think," he said.<br /> <br /> Iggulden was right about Rögle's offensive game tonight but Luleå also did play a good defensive game in front of Gustafsson.<br /> Rögle played a great game and made few mistakes. But as coach Dan Tangnes said, the many penalties in the first period drained them of <br /> important energy. Almost a constant favorite to the SEL championship title, FBK has had a rough start so far, only going 3-3-0-1. Their defense and goaltending has been the main issues, and if things doesn't turn soon, be sure that general manager <strong>Håkan Loob </strong>will make some huge changes in order to make them as We did a lot of individual mistakes out there and if their defense hadn't been just as bad, we've probably lost 5-0 tonight. We played far from the level we're used to play at, at least defensively. I don't know why we did it, but we were just all over the place<br /> the whole game and didn't play as a unit. Rögle only got fifty-five seconds on the power play when <strong>Jakob Johansson </strong>took his second penalty of the night. When Klefbom's penalty ended, FBK quickly sent out their power play unit on the ice.<br /> And the same Klefbom set up the first goal. He got the puck from <strong>Jack Connolly</strong>, skated into the zone and fired a shot on goal. Goaltender <strong>Jonas Fransson </strong>left a rebound and <strong>Per Åslund </strong>was there to poke it in, making it 1-0 for the home team.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Aslund_0_1_zps48084d44.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> A few minutes later, Jakob Johansson got his second penalty of the game and once again, FBK scored.<br /> Oscar Klefbom managed to steal the puck inside Rögle's zone and fired a somewhat loose puck on net which trickled in behind Fransson somehow.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Klefbom_0_2_zps699ba035.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> The phase picked up even further in the second half of the period, and Fransson redeemed himself a little bit by coming up with some huge saves. His counterpart in net, <strong>Fredrik Petterson-Wentzel</strong> was just as good, stopping all ten shots he faced in the period. <br /> A frustrating period for Rögle, who basically had everything against them. But they would play much better in the period to come.</td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Second Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="246" colspan="3" align="center">Rögle got an early power play as <strong>Marcus Paulsson </strong>got two for cross checking. <strong>Dennis Everberg </strong>replaced <strong>Tim Brithén </strong>on his power play for some reason and almost scored on a one-timer but Pettersson-Wentzel stretched out his right leg to make the save. <br /> FBK captain <strong>Rickard Wallin </strong>got a minor for hooking at 02:06, making it a 5 on 3 power play for Rögle. But despite landing several shots on net, they puck just wouldn't go in. And the big reason was Petterson-Wentzel, who did his best trying to hold FBK's 2-0 lead.<br /> But Rögle kept grinding and while being shorthanded, <strong>Fredrik Warg</strong> was very aggressive in the neutral zone and stole the puck, went into the zone and fired a quick wrister which found it's way top shelf behind Pettersson-Wentzel.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Warg_1_2_zps4f0fce04.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> The fourth-line kept impressing and soon got another goal for Rögle. <strong>Alexander Lindqvist-Hansen</strong> powered his way through Färjestad's defense and in a scrumble and tumble in front of the net, Hansen managed to dig out the puck and put the equalizer behind the netminder.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Lindqvist-Hansen_2_2_zpsc3db2913.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> And six minutes later, the fourth-line made it 3-2. Fredrik Warg won a face off inside FBK's zone and <strong>Jesper B. Jensen </strong>took a few strides into the center and fired a slapshot past Pettersson-Wentzel's blocker. <br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Jensen_3_2_zps3141e507.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> The line who isn't supposed to score gave Rögle the lead and a chance to win this game. Rögle had a bid on 4-2 as well in the final minutes of the period was Marcus Paulsson was in the penalty box but FBK's PK unit did an excellent job killing the penalty and the score was 3-2 when the period ended. A change of scenery from the first period it seemed but it was really one line who did the job. The rest had to pull themselves together.<br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Third Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="232" colspan="3" align="center">FBK started in a furious phase and forced Rögle to play defensively. Rögle killed off an early penalty on <strong>Christopher Liljewall </strong>but FBK was on the prowl and eight minutes in, they tied up the game. In a failed clearing attempt by Rögle, <strong>Chris Lee </strong>got to the puck and quickly fired a shot that went past Fransson but it hit the post. The bounce was however lucky for FBK, as the puck went out to <strong>Max Gortz</strong>, who put a backhand past the goaltender for the tying goal. <br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Gortz_3_3_zpsf1358d2e.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> And less than a minute later, FBK was ahead once again as <strong>Anders Bastiansen</strong> took care of a rebound from Fransson to make it 4-3.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Bastiansen_3_4_zpsc6df9e18.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> But Rögle wanted their lead back. In another great effort by Lindqvist-Hansen, he dug out the puck from the left corner inside FBK's zone and found<strong> Nils Bergström </strong>far out by the right face off circle. But he was not satisfied.<br /> "I gave up some bad rebounds tonight I think. In a "dirty" game like this when there's a lot of scrums, rebounds and odd bounces you really need your focus to be at its highest. But it wasn't and I'm pretty bummed out about that," he said.<br /> <br /> Even that he might not agree, Fransson is surely not to blame for the loss. The defense had another night where they were just scattered and not organized. While it's not time yet to point out specific players, it's however clear that some players needs to step up soon if they want to stay in the line-up. But it's still early. PS: I found out that the difficulty level with +1 CPU advantage is too much for me. I get crushed and the CPU really has an unfair boost that way. Well for me anyway... I'm not a great player like some other guys on the forum. I get much more balanced difficulty when I use +1 CPU advantage in goalie boost instead. Cheers.

I'm not that good of a player either, at least not offensively. If I would turn on +1 goalie boost I would get blanked for the rest of the season! But so far, this season has been fairly realistic. I'm doing a bit better than the real Rögle who were on 10th or 11th place at this stage (i'm at 8th right now). But it's still a long season to go. I might just plummet into last place. I'm going to pick up the phase now with the games as I'm done with all my exams. Hopefully, I will start my 1997-1998 Flyers season before the summer ends.

Rögle did found their game eventually</span> and on a powerplay late in the period they got close to score the game's first goal but goaltender <strong>Daniel Larsson</strong> and his defense fended off all of their attacks. Rögle won the shots clearly 11-4 but did not have the momentum. In other words, the game was still open.<br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Second Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="67" colspan="3" align="center">Rögle got an early power play when <strong>Björn Melin </strong>was handed a minor for hooking. A great opportunity to get the lead but it backfired totally as a slapshot on AIK:s blueline led to a turnover. <strong>Christian Sandberg </strong>skated fast into Rögle's zone, fired a puck into the boards behind <strong>Martin Gerber</strong>, picked it up himself and served <strong>Daniel Josefsson </strong>with a pass. Josefsson fired a one-timer past Gerber making it 1-0 for AIK.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Josefsson_0_1_zps9c4304b2.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> This situation was basically the same the crowd at Lindab Arena got to see thoughout the period. Rögle were on the offense, trying to create scoring chances while AIK played very defensively and tried to play on the home team's mistakes, creating turnovers. <br /> But neither of the teams managed to score and AIK held their 1-0 until the end of the period. <br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Third Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="210" colspan="3" align="center">The frustation that were building up from the start of the game started to show, both at the players bench and in the crowd.<br /> Sporadic boohs and sighs could be heard every time Rögle failed to score on a chance. But after a whole lot of work, Rögle finally got up on the scoreboard. <strong>Ted Brithén </strong>cleared the puck out of Rögle's zone and <strong>Tom Preissing </strong>quickly took care of it and skated into AIK:s zone.<br /> Preissing saw<strong> Mattias Tjärnqvist</strong>, who had parked himself in front of the net, and with a saucer pass he got to him. <br /> Tjärnqvist got a piece of his stick on the puck and it redirected into the net behind Larsson.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Tjarnqvist_1_1_zpse33dfda0.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> But say which joy last forever. We had a lot of chances to win this but we just didn't took them. But I rather have them react this way rather than not reacting at all. It just shows how much this team wants to win and how hard they take a loss. But now it's important to leave this game in the dressing room and not to take it home," he said.<br /> <br /> It's an important thing he takes up here, but I'm afraid that this perticular seed already has been planted. Halfway into the period, Rögle had yet to manage a shot on net while Timrå was up to eight.<br /> Rögle defended themselves up to this point but it all fell apart when they got penalized twice. First,<strong> Dennis Everberg </strong>got called for hooking at 12:11 and then <strong>Mike Iggulden </strong>got a tripping call at 13:28, giving Timrå a 5-on-3 power play. And after losing a scrum near the blueline,<strong> Jesper B. Jensen</strong> lost the puck and two quick passes by Timrå led to a scoring chance. <strong>Jonathan Hedström </strong>launched a wristshot on net and a screened (by his own teammates) <strong>Jonas Fransson </strong>didn't see the puck in time to make the save.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Hedstroumlm_0_1_zpsc4563438.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> And just forty seconds later, Timrå made it 2-0 on basically the same situation. This lead to another lost scrum in their own zone, leading to <strong>Alexander Larsson</strong> getting one past Fransson, making it 3-0 for Timrå.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Andersson_0_3_zps9a0eb855.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> A discouraged Rögle went to the dressing room wondering how they would ever turn this thing around.<br /> Losing the shots 3-13 and having a 3-goal deficit in their backs after one period wasn't a good confidence boost<br /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Second Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="223" colspan="3" align="center"><br /> <strong>Dan Tangnes </strong>made some changes before the period. First, Jonas Fransson was pulled in favor of <strong>Martin Gerber</strong>, and <strong>Fredrik Warg</strong> and <strong>Tim Brithén</strong> switched lines to see if anything would happen. And things started to happen. Rögle looked nothing like the team in the first period and started to get some shots on net. And at 05:52, Fredrik Warg made it 1-3 after Dennis Everberg found him with a pass. Goaltender <strong>Joakim Lundström </strong>was there to make the save but didn't have time to go down in a block butterfly save and it went underneath his right armpit.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Warg_1_3_zpsf101cde3.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> Rögle kept going on and it was mostly the third and the fourth line who chipped in with energy. Timrå was forced to retreat a little bit and started to play it rough. But the period saw only one Rögle power play but it should have been a lot more. But a little grinding usually does the trick and the 3rd line finally got Rögle within one as <strong>Alexander Lindqvist-Hansen</strong> managed to pick up a failed clearing attempt and served <strong>Daniel Sylwander</strong>, who got the call-up from the J20 squad yesterday, with a pass and he put the puck past Lundström's glove.<br /> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/Sylwander_2_3_zpsdb4291df.jpg" width="800" height="640" /><br /> <br /> Rögle had a few chances on making it 3-3 but Lundström and his defense kept it within one as the period ended.<br /> 12-7 were the shot in favor of Rögle and things were looking better before the third period.</td> </tr> <tr> <td height="15" colspan="3" align="center" bgcolor="#d1dceb"><strong>Third Period</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="54" colspan="3" align="center">But here, Timrå decided to play dirty. And thanks to a somewhat biased referee, it worked. They slashed, hooked, tripped, hugged and literally doing everything to stop Rögle from scoring and the referee only found penalties on two occiasions, both hooking-call three minutes apart in the middle of the period. Rögle did their best to cope with this fact but had to see their chances spoiled in the last minute by a hooking call on <strong>Tobias Törnqvist</strong> with forty-two seconds to go. Game. Set. It looked like 90's hockey out there. I was literally hugged from behind in front of their net by one guy and the referee saw nothing? I mean, c'mon!," an angry Iggulden said before he rushed into the dressing room.<br /> <br /> Yes, the referee's performance tonight was perhaps one of the worst i've seen in a while in the SEL. But that is still no excuse. A great team overcome obstacles like that. What I see now is just a team who's confidence begin's to head south. I've seen glimpses of a team who's played earns them a right to play in the big league and I've also seen glimpses where they shouldn't be up here. While I have been positively surprised that most of the players has displayed SEL quality, the big issue i've seen so far is the lack of confidence inside the team. And it's a thing that has been growing each game. <br /> When looking at the games, they sometimes look so confident out there only <br /> to realise that "oh right, we're not expected to perform this good" and adjust<br /> to that thought. And it's up to coach <strong>Dan Tangnes</strong> to turn it around now.<br /> The next ten games will perhaps be the most important as it might build the foundation for the remainder of the season.<br /> <br /> Looking at the other teams, three teams surprisingly are in the bottom half of the standings are Färjestad, HV 71 and Brynäs. Brynäs, who won the SEL championship last season, has had a lot of problems scoring and both <strong>Johan Holmqvist </strong>and <strong>Robin Rahm </strong>in the net has underperformed so far. He scored his seven goals in the first seven games but was held scoreless the last three. But he has been a constant offensive threat will his speed and size. <strong>Lasse Kukkonen</strong> has been a surprise offensively since he's not expected to produce but with the absence of points from <strong>Daniel Sondell </strong>it's a welcome addition. Sondell hasn't got a good start of his season.<br /> He has just one goal and has a team-worst minus-7 so far. With the expectations<br /> on him to be a productive defenseman, he has start contributing now. <br /> Two other negative surprises also so far are <strong>Christopher Liljewall </strong>and <strong>Tim Brithén</strong>. <br /> Both of them had a pretty successful preseason but has been a no-show so far.<br /> Liljewall has however been good defensively so far and has a plus-1 in his stat sheet.<br /> Brithén on the other hand has a second-worst minus-5 and with just one assist, he<br /> is in the danger zone of becoming a healthy scratch very soon.<br /> <br /> Let's put our attention on the defensive side. What has impressed me so far are <br /> the youngsters who are grinding in the third and fourth line. <strong>Tobias Törnqvist </strong>hasn't had a point so but he is plus-1 and has been throwing around his 87 kg frame all over the ice and is providing a much needed physical presence. With limited icetime, <strong>Alexander Lindqvist-Hansen </strong>has made much of it. He has a goal and two assists and has a plus-2 rating and has really grown a couple of sizes since the start of the season. What I'm hoping for now is that coach Dan Tangnes perhaps will match him in one of the two top lines. And last but not least, <strong>Dennis Everberg</strong>. The 21-year old forward has a goal and an assist but most important, he's making a terrific job on the penalty kill and his work-hard-every-shift attitude has earned him a spot in the second line and I don't see a reason why he shouldn't be there. <br /> <br /> <strong>Rögle goaltender stats</strong> <br /> <img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr163/punxatawney/goalies_1_zpsf5b0f693.jpg" width="578" height="60" /><br /> <strong>Comments:<br /> </strong>Both goaltenders have shared the net so far and has been quite equal in performance.<br /> <strong>Jonas Fransson</strong>'s stats look a lot worse than his play actually has been. His low-point <br /> against Timrå IK(3 goals allowed on 13 shots) is his only real bad performance so far.<br /> <strong>Martin Gerber </strong>only have one win so far but he has done his best to give rest of the team a chance to win. Both had been assigned to the respective teams on 10-game loan contract. Lindgren had a pretty successful stint with Karlskoga, having 8 points (3+5), 4 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating. Panelin-Borg only had one assist, but was plus-four with 22 penalty minutes. <br /> "We are satisfied to hear that they've performed well during their assignment to the lower-tier teams. They will play a couple of game now with us and then we will make an assessment whether to keep them or reassign them to Hockeyallsvenskan," general manager Pelle Svensson said in a press release on wednesday morning. <br /> <br /> He also said that <strong>Andrée Brendheden </strong>will stay with Karlskrona HK until after new year. <br /> "Andreé has only played three games with them due to injury and he's still nursing that so we've made an aggreement with Karlskrona that he will rehabilitate with the team at our cost, play the remainding seven games with the team and then we'll bring him back for an assessment," he said.<br /> Brendheden had one goal and was minus-1 with four penalty minutes in three games until he went down with an lower-body injury.<br /> <br /> With Lindgren and Panelin-Borg back with the team, this means that two players on the current roster are going to be scratched. In my opinion, they should scratch either <strong>Ted Brithén </strong>or <strong>Christopher Liljewall </strong>on the offense and <strong>Daniel Sondell </strong>on the defense as neither of them has made a positive inpact on the team.
