I've gotten the same response from the launcher. It tells me the exe stopped working. Then again I'm having all sorts of issues at the moment. Trying to pin point it the problem.

That's exactly the same launcher that I tried (I think). Exactly the same size (bytes).

Not working.

Try manually registering the dlls via a batch file and run the game without the launcher.

Here's the batch file:
Code:

regsvr32.exe becontrols_pc_z.dll
regsvr32.exe BrowserEngine_pc_z.dll

That's very strange. If it's in the same folder as the DLL files, it should register. Did becontrols_pc_z.dll register?

This worked. The other one does not.

Where should I launch the browserengine command? In the NHL04 folder?

Yeah, both dll files are in the nhl2004 folder. If that DLL hasn't been modified, it's very strange that it won't register. Not registering means either the file isn't there, there's something wrong with the file itself or one of the dlls it's dependent on is missing.

These are the dependent top-level DLL files:

c:\windows\system32\KERNEL32.DLL
c:\windows\system32\USER32.DLL
c:\windows\system32\GDI32.DLL
c:\windows\system32\ADVAPI32.DLL
c:\windows\system32\SHELL32.DLL
c:\windows\system32\OLE32.DLL
c:\windows\system32\OLEAUT32.DLL
c:\windows\system32\VERSION.DLL
c:\windows\system32\SHLWAPI.DLL
c:\windows\system32\URLMON.DLL

Problem with my browserengine.dll or launcher.dll?

Can I somehow "restore" everything to the state wherever it was before I tried the Launcher.exe? Game worked just fine. Now it's no worky... with or without the launcher. It changes the res to 800 x 600 (interface res) and then just gives this error message.

Maybe "reset" the NHL04 registry?

BrowserEngine_pc_z.dll. It's mandatory that that file is registered. The only thing that changed with the launcher is it attempts to register that file, which in and of itself should never cause problems. If that file can't be registered, then there's some other problem unrelated to the launcher. The launcher doesn't modify any files other than it's own config file.

Where is the browserengine.dll file located?

Can't find it at all from the C: drive.

It should be in the NHL 2004 folder with becontrols_pc_z.dll. Those are the only dlls in the NHL 2004 folder that need to be registered.

Damn... I must have deleted that file accidentally when I made a cleanup in the folder.

It was in my Recycle Bin. :D

Sorry for this mess. Working now.

Great update. But on another note. I was testing your facepack tool and that thing looks great. My only question is there a way you can make it so the med and small images are raised up a bit so they are closer to the top border?

Sorry I missed your reply. I'm honestly surprised that the facepack tool still works. It's possible, but it will require adding a border at the bottom to preserve the aspect ratio. It probably wouldn't work out very well since the top of the player's head in each image varies, so some would get cut off.
