An idea came across, since a lot of people have asked "is that possible to implement?".
Would it possible to change a piece of the code so that the game can read the cyberface files (.ebo and .fsh) used for cyberfaces in NHL2005-2009 (and probably the rest of the titles as well).

It's possible, but probably won't happen. 1.5 will include the ability to inject standard textures and model formats such as .DDS textures and .x models. Combined with LUA scripts, you'll be able to do things such as add texture animations. For instance, you'll be able to add animated 360 LED displays and that sort of thing.

That is freaking cool. But have you found anything about how to make visor textures solid yet?

Not yet, but it's pretty low priority.

Well, if it's possible, I think you should seriously consider it. That is probably the only part of the game - graphically - that is still somewhat outdated (and before anyone goes apeshit, this is no way meant as disrespect to the current cyberface makers, who are doing one hell of a job. I'm simply pointing out that the 'technology' would add even more to this great game).
I don't have the skill, but it would be nice to see a test of having actual NHL2005-2014 and onwards cyberfaces in the game.
I'm excited to see the new features of 1.5, it sounds like there are endless possibilities :)

when it comes to the cyberfaces, i know that if the faces were in the same format then the vintage mods would have over 500 faces immediately ;)

I don't know anything about the .fsh file format or the ea model format, so it's not even really something I can consider without more information. If you know where I can get this information, then I can consider it. That's much different than working with standard formats which are natively supported with directx (IE, DDS, PNG, .X etc)

@Vod: I guess for NHL04 the game reads the cyberface texture from a Fsh file or FshED file (the old format) and then reads the face structure from a ??? file.
In NHL2005 and onwards it reads the texture from the fsh file and the structure from the .ebo file.
