Alright, thanks jacob_jub. I played a few games and the cyberface thing is actually fine I have to admit, I was more busy trying to get the puck out of my zone :)

I have another question vod: would it be possible to make the game read .png files? I'm thinking for the facepacks, since we would be able to enable transparent background and thereby it would be better. I'm sorry to say this, I started making facepacks back in 2003 for NHL04 - back then people used EA's background etc. Now: it's just throwing in pictures with different backgrounds and that's a shame people have gone lazy, sorry, but I know it's quicker to just pull off the pictures and add them. Fair enough, but the resizing has gone terrible wrong as well, at least on a lot of the SHL facepacks and it's a shame. I know people are like "who gives a shit, no one plays that league anyway" etc. still it's a shame.

I did the facepacks for the NHL. (well most of them) And i taking off the background would be next to impossible plus i think it looks terrible like that. And the facepacks are read in .png files. They are just converted over.

Ingame they are read in .png - still the background is kept, that's not how EA made it, nor how we used to do 10 years ago.
I was more thinking about if the med and small images could be changed to .png - meaning: code the game to read .png files for med and small (the interface pictures). Right now if you try to load up the .png it doesn't show instead you get the default image (the 'this player does not have a facepack EA image').

I take insult with this, Tyson, as much I respect your work.

I've put in countless hours working on the NHL facepacks for the past several years (though most NHL facepacks are now are Jacob's facepacks under my instructions as I've pretty much retired from doing them), even ensuring that they are resized properly with the correct scale and making sure that they don't look odd or out of focus. Don't call the work "lazy" as it does take quite a long time to get them looking right.

I'd challenge you to put the same amount of time to do it but I know you are familiar with the process.

The "transparent" method was attempted a while ago by StiflersMom and it didn't turn out so well so we returned to having the background.

I didn't mean to disrespect your work and like I said "but the resizing has gone terrible wrong as well, at least on a lot of the SHL facepacks and it's a shame." I was referring to the SHL facepacks. The only thing concerning the NHL facepacks is that the background is still there - ingame. I have recently just gone back to playing NHL04 and that's - visually - the detail that annoys me the most. Maybe because I'm not used to it (from old times), maybe because there are a few pixels of transparency on the top, which adds to the "oh" feeling. I do, however, accept that people are fine with it. I just pointed it out. In any case, making facepacks is time consuming to say the least and with this game even more so.

Challenge not accepted, I've spend a good part of my teenage years drinking, smoking and making facepacks :) I know it's a hassle to get the pictures to fit, which is always why I started wondering what happens if you play around with them.
I tested some 100x120 (med) pictures ingame - they look fine in the menu. This means that a complete SHL facepack could be done within a few days, with nice looking med pictures.
Now, I'd imagined someone saying "NO, if you don't do them in 88x124 this or that will look messy" - is that so? If it is, I'll rest my case. If not, I'm willing to release an entire SHL facepack update.

I recently joined so pardon me for my questions etc. I don't mean no disrespect, I'm simply just trying to find out a few things :)

Matteo does the SHL facepacks; I generally don't go into international leagues.

I do agree with you that some do look disproportioned. It's up to you really.

And yes, during the teenage years I took a long time working on the facepacks as well :P

I said it many times: SHL pics are wrong 'cause I didn't use programs like GIMP to cut to the given measures (as I'm doing now for some NHL facepacks, Liiga and DEL - at least those available). If you check out the latest ones (MODO's Onerud, Nylander, Adrian Kempe or Farjestad's Bertrand, Kylington, Gulas to name a few) they are perfect instead.
Unfortunately I don't have time atm to make them anew.

Well I'm new here, so how would I know. Anyway, no worries :) I'll create a proper Örebro HK facepack and upload here. I might add more teams. Let's see what people say.

This only happens when you use the launcher?

If it's not because of the launcher, then you are posting in the wrong thread...
