Cool, good to hear you're already aware of it. I eagerly await the next version of the launcher which will hopefully address this issue :).

Apologies if this has been answered before, but whenever I use the Launcher to start up the game, all of the rosters default to the original 2004 game and not the mod. If I don't use the Launcher, all of the rosters from 2014 are set. I'm using the nhl2004.exe included in the interface of the rebuilt mod and I've extracted the roster files to the My Documents/NHL 2004/DB folder, and the db.viv and tuning.viv extracted to C:/NHL2004/db folder. Any suggestions?

The rosters in rebuilt should completely replace the default rosters, so there should be no way for the default rosters to be loaded if the rebuilt rosters are installed correctly. Do you have multiple NHL 2004 folders?

No, just the one C:/NHL2004 folder from a fresh install, into which I extracted all of the Rebuilt files. And I only have one NHL 2004 folder in My Documents. I've also noticed that some teams will load strange rosters which have a mix of European players and retired/free agent NHL players.

When I extract the Rebuilt mod files into the NHL 2004 folder, should I be merging and replacing all the folders, or should I delete all of them and then extract the files afterward? I've been doing the former method.

I've also noticed that custom ditties don't play when I use the launcher.

Uninstalled the game, installed it again, re-downloaded all the files from the Rebuilt Mod thread, extracted to C:\NHL 2004, overwriting everything, and started the launcher from that same folder. Rosters are still messed up and custom ditties don't play.

The rosters don't seem to be the default NHL 2004, it looks like a mess of some current NHL players and European players. Here's Philadelphia for example:

Here's where I installed everything:

What's the date and time of the files?
(It shows it on the files in your My Documents)

Did you overwrite the original files in the Documents folder? The ones that the game installs there by default?

Or did you create that folder yourself? If you did, you have those files two times in your C:\ drive.

The idea is to replace the original files (that come with the installation). Not to create any new folders.

That same documents folder should also have \USER and \DITTIES subfolders.

Yes, I replaced all of the preexisting files and folders; I didn't create any new ones, I just booted up the game to the main menu after installing it to create the folder in "My Documents." It also has the \USER and \ditties folders.

@The Cheese: The roster files in the "My Documents\NHL 2004\DB" folder have time and date "2/13/2014 7:45 AM." All of the mod files I installed were from today's update. The ones in C:\NHL 2004\db are:

db.viv 2/13/2014 7:45 AM
stats.viv 8/15/2003 5:43 PM
tuning.viv 6/5/2013 5:33 PM

It's 100% sure you have the rosters screwed somehow. Impossible to detect it here as I don't have access to your computer.

Do you have multiple versions of NHL 2004 installed... vintage and modern?

If you do, you always have to rename both folders accordingly (the main folder and also the Documents folder), and the one you play is always \NHL 2004 and the one you don't should be \Vintage NHL 2004 or \Modern NHL 2004.

Just one NHL 2004 folder with the modern mod. No vintage, European, or AHL mods installed. What's strange is when I use the regular nhl2004.exe, the rosters and ditties are fine. They are only messed up if I use the Launcher.

Does the Windows 7 UAC have anything to do with it? I'm not on an Administrator account, so when I installed the base game, I had to do it on the Admin side. I then installed the mod using my second, non-Admin account, which is where I have the rosters and the custom ditties, and where I launch the Launcher.exe.

I'm not on an Administrator account

That may be your issue, but maybe turning off UAC could help;

Got it! Turns out I was right about the problem having to do with my Admin account. The Launcher was reading the roster files from the "My Documents" folder in my Admin account, and not the one I was actually using to launch the game. So I just hopped on over to the Admin, copied the roster files there, and used the Launcher from my regular account. And I'm guessing the ditties will work the same way, too. Problem solved!

I'll still have to figure out how to get the Launcher to use a different My Documents path in case I install the 96-97 Vintage mod. Otherwise I'll be switching back and forth to change the folder names.

In Windowed Mode... if you are playing CPU vs CPU (just watching a game), can you work outside the game in another program without the game pausing.

Or do you have to be in the game to make it keep playing.

Thanks.

This bug has according to trent to do with the Launcher's DynastyStartYear, which I have created to be 2013. Do you have any idea how the Launcher text should be change in order to get this bug fixed?

This isn't caused by the launcher. Can you go to My Documents\NHL 2004\USER\ and tell me if you have CreateLeagueInfo.txt and CurrentLeagueInfo.txt?
