Thanks for the thorough report. Do you have an antivirus program or a program such as Comodo Defense+ running? |

You're welcome. I have MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) running and nothing else related to anti-virus, malware, etc. I've been messing around with it a bit and I think it's somehow related to Windows Aero. If I switch my desktop from an Aero Theme to a Basic Theme, the launcher works about 80% of the time whereas with Aero, it works only occasionally. Either way, it still fails to load sometimes for no obvious reason. It's a fantastic mod! I set the FOV to 50 during one test and could see the entire sheet of ice!! ![]() Cheers, Glen |

If anyone else is experiencing this, I've pretty much resolved it by using a batch file. I created one called "launcher.bat" and placed it in the main NHL2004 folder. It contains these lines of code: rem -----START OF BATCH FILE------ @echo off sc stop uxsms start /D "D:\NHL2004" Launcher.exe echo. echo. echo. echo "Aero temporarily turned off. Continuing will turn it back on." echo. echo. echo. pause sc start uxsms exit rem -----END OF BATCH FILE------ So, essentially I use this to launch the launcher and then use the launcher to launch the game. The batch file first turns off Windows Aero and then pauses before turning it back on again. When I'm done playing and have closed the game, I highlight the DOS box as the active window and then press any key to continue and turn Aero back on again. In my case, the game is installed on my D: drive. In your case, change the line: start /D "D:\NHL2004" Launcher.exe to start /D "{the root folder of your game's install location}" Launcher.exe I hope this helps anyone who might have experienced the same crashing as I was. Cheers, Glen |

Thanks for the feedback. It may be caused by a stability issue which is fixed in the upcoming launcher 1.5 release. |

There already is an LOD bias config option. Is that what you mean, or are you thinking about depth of field? |

I would be cool to have a DOF (Death Of Field) setting Just a Question VOD could the current LOD setting solve the no helmets player issue I understood that there was a problem for long distance players but maybe it is a model issue and not a texture one  |

You can inject shaders in launcher 1.5, so that opens the possibility for effects you'll find in ENB. LODBias is just for texture LOD. It's a built-in DX8 parameter (D3DTSS_MIPMAPLODBIAS ) that modifies the mipmap behavior. Decreasing it will make the larger mips draw further away from the camera, making further away textures look more sharp (and possibly reduce performance). Increasing it will make the smaller mips draw closer to the camera, making closer textures appear more blurry (possibly increasing performance). DX8 has no model LOD functionality, it's all handled by NHL 2004's graphics engine (EAGL) and I haven't found the code that is responsible for it yet. |

Hey Vod, I'm giving a try on the Windowed mode here but the window is just too small and I can't change its parametres. I mean, I can but Interface looks the same size every time. Then when I play a game, now yes, it's the size I wanted. Can we make we interface the same size as the ingame? Regards, Franco MDH |

Are you talking about the bottom of the window being cut off? |

That too, it cuts off the bottom part. But the interface itself on the windowed mode is very small. When you play (ingame) it's the regular size I defined in the .ini file. I think someone reported this here sometime ago but it was lost in the middle of the forum. Regards, Franco MDH |

The interface is always 800 x 600 and is not affected by the resolution option, even in full-screen mode. |

Hmm...and is there a way to change that to a little bigger interface? Or at least make it a little bigger on the height so as not to cut off the bottom part? Regards, Franco MDH |

Changing the interface resolution can be done, but that alone won't improve things since the interface HTML and Javascript files are designed around the 800x600 resolution. So what will happen is the window will get bigger, but the menus and everything will just be an 800x600 rectangle at the top-left area of the window and surrounded by black empy space. We would have to recreate the interface to be able to handle larger resolutions, which is something we've been talking about for a while. The bottom of the screen being cut off is an EA bug and also happens without the launcher if you run in windowed mode. It can be fixed though, which I'll look into. |

Hmm...got it. But how does it looks ok in full screen mode? I'm sorry man, I have no idea how these things work. Regards, Franco MDH |
