Download NHL 94 patches (requires original NHL 94 ROM, not included): http://www.mediafire.com/download/6xiz34c3...L94_Patches.zip I don't know this forum's policy on ROMs, so I will refrain from posting direct links unless informed otherwise. For now I will share some screenshots to show what the NHL 94 community is capable of. Now how's this for breathing life into an old Sega Genesis classic? And I'm talking old old. Can you believe it took years to figure out how to add stick tape to blades, shuffle around organ music, add 30 teams to the game, and get helmet colors separate from the jersey color? All little things that really add up to teach this old dog some new tricks. It's really cool to see what you can do within the limitations of this game, much like the NHL04 Rebuilt mod has done with NHL 2004. The 97 screenshots mostly showcase my personal additions to an existing ROM by naples39, to make it more historically accurate or to suit my personal preferences. This includes the John Vanbiesbrouck cover, Mike Emrick, the NHL 97 logo on the scoreboard, and center ice logos like the Isles 25th anniversary. If anyone prefers my edits over the original 97 deadline ROM, I'll gladly share it. (Click on thumbnails for bigger images) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Meanwhile, the NHL 14 edit is made by someone with much more experience and knowledge in hacking NHL 94. The quality level of this thing is off the charts, especially considering this is a 16-bit game with a 2 MB limit. I have no idea how this guy manages to do the stuff he does, even something as small as getting high-quality team logos in without the resolution limitations corrupting the images. We're talking 48x32 pixels for each center ice logo. Since his website only hosts IPS patches and not full ROMs, I think I should be okay with linking it if anyone is interested. It's really amazing to see and play. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Good post. NHL 94 is still one of my all-time favorite games.

If anyone wants to give my 1997 edit a try, I've made an IPS patch that you can apply to the nhl94.bin ROM from the NHL 94 website. The file size should increase to 2048 kb. I've included a patch with my own graphical edits (plus a revamped title screen) and the original hack I based my ROM off of, in case you prefer that one. If you want to try the 2014 hack, I've added a link to the creator's website. Again, there are no ROMs hosted on the site, only IPS patches. Mods, feel free to edit my post if it breaks any rules. 1997 patches: http://www45.zippyshare.com/v/39363290/file.html 2014 patch: http://pixelpuck.com/?p=3396 |

Re-upped the 1997 edit patch, along with a 1994 and 1999 patch that aren't edited as much, but still have some changes I made to ice logos and stuff. Again, this is only the IPS patch and the patcher file, so you need your own ROM of NHL 94 for the Genesis/Mega Drive. https://www.dropbox.com/s/i5pfzdc2z4ua19g/N...atches.zip?dl=0 Unfortunately the maker of the 2014 edit has since retired and never released a playoffs edition of his ROM hack. The patch is still up on his site if you are interested. |

I have tried the PixelPuck mods and they are very cool. Anyone on this board have any connections to the NHL94.com site? I have been trying to register on their forum but they have some kind of captcha error that prevents me from getting in. I have tried Firefox, Chrome, IE, and Safari and it still doesn't let me register. Thanks for any help. Cheers! Calvin |

If I ran away, I'd never have the strength To go very far How would they hear the beating of my heart Will it grow cold The secret that I hide, will I grow old How will they hear When will they learn How will they know | |
