I think that this is the reason. You should directly contact that person and ask if he could run the game. |

TeamMusic.exe is still in the Vintage Mod. It'd be quite silly to receive all ESPN ticker news from today's NHL. |

Maybe we should write on first post main mod: Please note that the exe-files in the game directory have to be trusted/approved programs in your AntiVir/Firewall programs so they won't get blocked and prevent the game from working! AntiVir may report them as virus, but they're FALSE POSITIVES! |

Have you tried with virtual machines? It doesn't make sense if it works but you should try.

Have you ever tried virtual machines? At least Virtual Box and Vmware are good, but you also need a windows image. So then you have to open the windows image and install the windows to virtual machine. After that you can install the game insade the virtual machine and try if it works. If you can play the game then you can play mods because you cannot play game without. The original game doesn't work with modern computers anymore. Lots of work and odds are not your side I don't have big hopes but there is still a possibility that it works. How knows!

I believe I have an old Windows XP iso somewhere. I think I've used virtual machines with my old macbook. I'll give it a shot, thanks |

Alright friends... I seem to have gotten it working. I'm not sure if it's an issue with running on Alienware computers, or maybe something to do with 64 bit systems. This is what I did: - Install a copy of Virtual Box on your computer. You can get it for free here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads - Once that's installed, make sure you download the expansion pack on the same link provided above and install that as well. - Next you need to have a copy of Windows XP SP3 32 bit. You can go buy one or find your own copy somehow. - Open Virtual Box and click on the "New" button and just follow the install instructions. It's all pretty straight forward. Just accept the default options, unless you want to have the partitioned hard drive to be a fixed size. - Now on your Host program (your usual operating system); insert your Windows XP disc or mount the .iso file . In the Virtual Box menu, click on the settings option under your new partitioned hard drive and make sure you have the video memory (display) maxed out at 128 MB, click on 3D acceleration. - You can start the partitioned drive now, and it'll run you through the actual Windows XP setup. You now have a working copy of Windows XP on your computer! Hurray! - Once it's finished installing you can close the Guest program (Windows XP). Now what I would do now, is go into your Host (Original OS) and mount the "VboxGuestAdditions" .iso file. You'll find it in the default folder where Virtual Box installed. - Run the Guest (Windows XP) again but holding down the "Shift" key and you should have the option to boot up in "Safe Mode". Run the VboxGuestAdditions.iso file and install. After it's finished you can close the Guest again. - In the Virtual Box menu, you can click on your Windows XP partition and click on settings. Go to shared folders and add any folders/drives from the Host, that you'd like to be able to access in the Guest. Alright! You should be all set! You can install Daemon tools and WinRAR or anything you'll need in Windows XP. Install NHL 2004 and all the mods as normal. Good luck!! PS: I apologize if that's confusing at all, I hope I got all the wording right. Let me know if you need more explanation or if I should change anything. |

ALRIGHT. Now with all that out of the way, I am still having some issues!! The game runs fine. I'm 90% positive I have all the mods installed correctly, and I've retired it 3x now. Whenever I play a game, it seems like the character models don't run?? Everything else seems normal but none the player's/crowd have jerseys or faces or anything. Just black or white and the ice is just black. For whatever reason, I'm having trouble getting a screenshot. Just doesn't seem to work. The game also runs in a small screen. Only when I actually start a game though. In the menu it's scaled to my whole screen: ![]() Last thing I've noticed is I can't get my Xbox One controller to work. However, I'm pretty sure that's only because it's not actually compatible with Windows XP? This may be an issue with Virtual Box. I understand Virtual Box is just an emulation. It can't actually detect your video card, so some of these issues may be because of that. In regards to the video memory; Virtual Box maxes out at 128 MB. Is this a big issue?? I hope someone on here has some experience with Virtual Box, or other Virtual Machines. I know some basic stuff, but I'm still fairly knew at all this. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! I'm so close, I can taste it! |

K.. <expletive> this is getting annoying. I did some updates on Windows XP and installed .net Framework 1.1 and 2. Now whenever I try and run nhl2004.exe or the launcher it just opens and closes right away with no error and no actual screens popping up. Why would this happen?? Even after uninstalling it still won't run. |

This looks bad. Could you try to repair your system from the windows 8 disk? |
