I wonder if UAC needs to be turned off. See the quoted text with Windows 8 in it. http://www.thebreakaway.net/forums/showthr...a-and-Windows-7 |

ntdll crash is very hard to debug since ntdll handles a lot of low level core windows operations. If there's a problem there, it won't just cause an NHL 2004 crash. The crash is happening in ntdll because NHL 2004 is probably passing an invalid argument as a result of some other problem, like an installation problem, driver compatibility issue or any number of other things. An ntdll offset is just not enough information to debug a problem like this. |

Any idea why the character models/faces won't load when running the game in Virtual Box? Everything in the menu is fine |

I have no idea. I would keep trying to get the game working natively on your system. What is your full system specs? I would start from scratch and just see if you can get the game running with the preservation mod since it requires the least amount of effort to install. - Fully uninstall everything you installed. Check "my documents" for an NHL 2004 folder and delete it if it still exists. - Install the game to any directory other than program files - Download the .bat file at the end of this post, copy it to the game directory containing nhl2004.exe and open it - Download the NHL 2004 preservation mod, copy it to your game directory and ovewrite any files. Open IE fix.reg that is included in the zip. Run the game. |

/Thanks for the response Vod, really appreciate it. I've had absolutely zero luck getting it to work natively on my computer. I've done what you said before, but I'll give it another shot! As for my system specs.. Not sure if there's any way to copy and paste them. (I'm new to windows 8) Here's a general idea: (Alienware 14) Processor: Intel® Core(tm) i7 - 4700MQ CPU @2.40GHz Installed memory (RAM) 16.0 GB System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor, Windows 8.1 Graphics Cards: Intel® HD Graphics 4600, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M Let me know if you need any more info. I'll try the reinstall right now. UPDATE: I copied the registry.bat file to the game directory(C:\NHL 2004). When I run it, I get the following errors: ![]() And run as administrator, I get: ![]() UPDATE: I left the registry.bat files and the .dll files it's trying to register in the game directory. I then also copied them to SysWOW64 and System32. Running registry.bat in SysWOW64, got the same errors as above. Running it in System32 however, worked. I then went back into the game directory (C:\NHL 2004) and SysWOW64 and tried running the .bat file again, and it succeeded. Registry.bat had to be run as administrator or I got the first error. Installed NHL Preservation and IE fix.reg ran without an issues. Just to be safe, I copied it to SysWOW64 and System32 as well. After all that however, I still get the usual "Please insert correct CD-ROM" error. I downloaded every version of the "No-CD Crack" and installed them 1 after another, trying to run the game for each version; but to no success. Can't get it to run as usual. Just get the same error, every time: ![]() Same error with all the mods installed correctly. I can actually run it in with Virtual Box. However, when I go to start up "Play Now", there are no player models; just solid colours. |

Can you run all other games on that system normally? Maybe your system has some fundamental issues? There have been many difficulties installing the game/mod in the past, but never anything like you have here.

Yeah, all other games run fine. Even emulators and old DOS games. It's a brand new computer, so I can't imagine it'd have any issues |

I notice you have two GPUs installed. Which one are you using for NHL 2004? |

I've tried running it with NVIDIA and the Intel GPU. Both crash, although with Intel the screen flashes between a black screen and the desktop twice before crashing. With NVIDIA it's just black with the screen kind of flickering before it crashes. Could it be an issue with the fact I have a 64-bit Operating System? I read somewhere that NHL 2004 doesn't work on 64-bit systems. Which doesn't make a lot of sense to me |

I had also 64 bit Vista and the game worked really well. So you are not using those GPUs at the same time. Like with SLI or similar? |

The only thing I can suggest at this point is using software such as dependency walker and API monitor to see if you can get more information. If you still have rebuilt installed, you can also try creating a launcher log. |

Not sure how to do the launcher log, but I've downloaded API Monitor and Dependency Walker and I'll post some results.
