It's 99% sure that you haven't installed the rosters correctly. Let's say you installed the game to D:\NHL 2004 then *.exh and *.exha from the package go to C:\My Documents\NHL 2004\db db.viv and tuning.viv go to D:\NHL 2004\db This is the most common reason for crashes. People simply can't put these files to two different folders. |

no i did put them in separate folders.. i may have put the sochi ones in the wrong way tho i dont think there are instructions for that... another thing i just noticed is that the pbp rar looks like its corrupted or something. im redownloading now. but it when i opened it up in winrar it said there was an unexpected end of the rar file. lemme double check everything again and ill post with update |

Go to coach options -> Edit Lines and see that your Rangers have actual 2015 lineup there. If the rosters aren't installed correctly you might see bums like Avery and Marek Malik there.... you know... guys from Glen Sather's worst GM days...

Cool. Then make sure you have installed arena.viv and jerseys.viv correctly. Sometimes people unrar them to \gamedata\gamedata\arena.viv <- The viv RAR packages have to be extracted to the \NHL 2004 root (the packages contain subfolders). Other possible reason might be that your antivirus is blocking/has deleted some of the essential EXE files from your \NHL 2004 folder. This isn't likely unless you haven't gotten any alerts though. Avira, for example, is pure shit. It treats Project2.EXE as a virus.

Take a screenshot of your \NHL 2004 installation folder. I just check that everything is correct place. Press PRNT-SCRN button, paste to your Paint program, save and post to imgur.com. Share the url. It's very unusual to experience a crash while loading the arena (if rosters are ok and arena.viv is correctly installed). Usually when people manage to get into the interface things start rolling smoothly.

is there any reason there should be this white box on top of the team selection? http://i.imgur.com/AGGVINX.jpg |

All looks ok. You start the game from the Launcher, right? What Launcher values you use? If you use widescreen have you checked that your Interface Display settings are on par? |

That's something f*cked up in your system for sure... besides it's Vista (crap).... but I doubt it has nothing to do with the crashing. |
