Hey guys! I have been lurking this community for almost a year now but since i updated to windows 10 and forgot my credentials, i had to make a new one. Thats not the only problem what came with w10. My game wont open up... I have installed the base game and that wont work and then i installed interface (unblocked) and still does not. It does not say stopped working or white screen does not pop up, it shows a quick black screen and then the resolution changes and then it changes back to normal. So the game wont open up even tho it changes resolution. I've tried to turn off antialiasing and did add lines to Launcher.ini but nothing... Log does not show anything failing or anything like that. I did not install rosters or anything else tha the launcher just to be sure. Compability modes i've tried and nothing. If i put Adapter = 2 to .ini it just gives the 3D Device driver error (my drivers are up to date). I've tried pretty much every fix with no luck and now i have to play NHL 15... I appreciate the time you took to read this and if you have ideas... Please tell me because i want to continue playing this really bad! EDIT: I also did register BrowserEngine_pc_z.dll and becontrols! EDIT2: I dont have antivirus on my PC so it cant be that. EDIT3: I tried running it in windowed mode but no luck. EDIT4: I checked windows event log and it shows this: Faulting application name: nhl2004.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x3f43b0de Faulting module name: ~df394b.tmp, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x3e4cbac0 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00003a06 Faulting process id: 0xc68 Faulting application start time: 0x01d12b73db45d16b Faulting application path: A:\NHL 2004\nhl2004.exe Faulting module path: C:\Users\Kasti\AppData\Local\Temp\~ef3f3d\~df394b.tmp Report Id: 4c03c3f9-d336-4805-b1a2-364279f75b3f Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: (THAT WAS TAKEN FROM OPENING THE GAME VANILLA!!!!!!!) EDIT5: Now when i installed the launcher and opened it does not do the same thing than last time.. Now it shows the 3d device driver error and then stops working. EDIT6: And the problem is back... No 3d device errors, just the same thing that was the problem in the first place... I'll include the event log when using the launcher. Faulting application name: NHL2004.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x72454562 Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000 Exception code: 0xc000041d Fault offset: 0x0090d260 Faulting process id: 0x2464 Faulting application start time: 0x01d12b758d666b24 Faulting application path: A:\NHL 2004\NHL2004.exe Faulting module path: unknown Report Id: 9bf94488-5c2e-49c9-8898-96903d661816 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: EDIT7. Tried everything... Changed back to Win7 and the game works. Specs (CPU & GPU) (Idk if i should add them but here they are) GPU: GTX 760 Gaming OC Edition CPU: AMD FX-6300 Thank you! -Peltolammi Tampereen Ilves<3 |

I'm not having the exact same problem, but I believe Win 10 has some sort of bug where programs don't work until about a month after installing Win10. I guess I'm asking how long ago you updated to Win 10 and also make sure you don't have Internet Explorer 9, because NHL 2004 won't run with it on your pc for whatever reason.

The launcher has no IE requirements at all. It's a good idea to always have the latest version of IE. Have you tried running in a window? |

If you can't seem to find the solution, I would suggest just deleting ever nhl 2004 file from your computer and install everything again. I use this video/files from HERE PS: Make sure you use a simple install directory such as '(C:)Games/NHL2004' or just '(C:)NHL2004' as it won't work with the default '(C:)Program Files/whatever/whatever' Hope I helped, but most likely I did not, hah

And you run the launcher as an admin? Can you post a screenshot from your "3D device driver..."-error? You should also disable the intro, just in case. |

Hey Everybody, after a long time of NHL PC abstinence I installed NHL 04 Rebuilt 2016 as adviced. I'm running Windows 10 64bit and ran into problems - NHL wouldn't start with the '3D Accelerator/ Video Card could not be initialized etc.' message. After a while I found out that setting the Launchers option 'Multisample Antialiasing' to 'None' and overriding the AA settings from the drivers menu instead did the trick for me. If I run the launcher in Compatibility Mode (tried Win 8 / 7 / Vista) I have the Game menu in fullscreen without compatibility mode the game menu will show in windowed mode. Hope I could help. Best regards, Mike Many many thanks to the makers of this great NHL mod !!!! |

Weird, I've never had any problems with NHL 04 since I installed W10. Hope you all W10 users(other OS users too ) solve your problems.

Yes it's always horrible looking for a solution and than finding a topic that's ending nowhere
One thing that I did when trying out things was starting the NHL04.exe without the launcher. Which was possible but the resolution was limited to 1600x something. Maybe this is something you could try also. And of course play around with administrator rights and compatibility modes. That's all I did. (And of course installing everything one by one till point eleven in the installation thread) Just in case my specs: Intel 4790K / Nvidia 970 Best regards, Mike |
