Launcher 1.5 beta 2 uploaded

DELETE THE LAUNCHER FOLDER (NHL 2004\Launcher) BEFORE DOWNLOADING OR YOU ARE GUARANTEED TO HAVE PROBLEMS

I Installed everything and i still got the white screen. hmm... idk whats the problem, someone pm me. lol

Your white screen problem is not caused by the launcher. I have no idea what the cause is because there's no way for me to replicate it. The only cause I know of is becontrols_pc_z.dll not being registered, but the launcher automatically registers it, and you said you already went through the list in the error solutions list. You'll have to just try random things on your system until you figure it out. If you do, let us know. A lot of people would benefit from it. The white screen should be nothing more than a flicker.

So, It Worked. I Reinstalled everything and installed Launcher 1.5.0 ,but i needed to wait like 10 minutes and then the white screen disappeared. And now i need to wait like 5 minutes for the main menu to pop up. idk what went wrong..

Cool. But please keep this thread on topic.

Here's a small progress report for what's coming in the upcoming fall release:

  • Bug and compatibility fixes
  • Multiple interface support. You can select an interface from within the launcher GUI. Each interface can have their own IE compatibility settings.
  • Mod system with a virtual FS. Mods can be ordered and enabled and disabled within the launcher GUI. Mods can contain anything launcher related as well as a full interface. All within one zip file. There is also a meta file for setting the name, description, creator, thumbnail etc.
  • New GUI theme
  • Fixed flickering when resizing the GUI window
  • Can reset launcher settings to default
  • Animated upper ads for every NHL team, as well as a new effect or two
  • Automatic updates
  • Force no touch icing
  • Scripts can now load fonts from font files
  • Networking functions for launcher scripts
  • Many new library functions, including new physics and gameplay values to tweak
  • Can set the puck drop minimum and maximum wait time
  • The ditty script now uses the in-game music slider
  • Full xinput support for scripts. You can check the battery, control the rumble, bind the triggers etc
  • Xinput example script with a battery display and rumble on shoot
  • Video texture library: Launcher scripts can now easily play videos on in-game objects with proper AV sync
  • Game log script. This creates a log file with in-game events such as goals, faceoffs won, penalties etc
  • ..Probably more I've forgotten

Vod... just wow. I just can't prevent myself from asking, when you mentioned: Many new library functions, including new physics and gameplay values to tweak
Could you expand on those and would it include by any chance something so the goalies would cover the puck more often? Honestly you're amazing, keep up the awesome work

Sort of. The goalie cover code is pretty basic..There's only a few lines of ASM code to decide whether or not to cover.. Is the current player a goalie? Has the player possessed the puck for x amount of time? Cover. It seems to always pass as long as there is a player open, but it's possible there's more to it. I will have to look into the passing code more. As of now, you can change the amount of time the goalie has to make this decision, but we can easily add more logic via a script. If you guys want to think up of some variables the goalie should take into consideration, I will work on that based on the info scripts currently have access to. :)

Some variables are already there.
I think thé goalies would cover more when thé team leads ...
One variable would be

Numberofplayer in offensing zone

Could make thé goalies cover if less than à number

And could be used elswhere
If numberplayerawayinzone - numberofplayerhomeinzone Greaterthan 3 then Crows volume lower
And thé contrary

Okay, I added a "GoalieCover" callback function. It works like the existing "CutsceneLoop" callback. If your callback returns true, the goalie covers, if false they continue to wait for a play. If no callbacks are defined in any script, the default behavior takes over. While any number of scripts can use this callback, if any one returns true the cover is initialized.

Wow that's great! it will improve the game a lot.

Thanks VOD
and what about Hooking or Offside rule??? more complicated, I guess.
I must say I am (starting to) getting use of the hooking, not so annoying anymore.

But the offside is still altering the way the game is played imo... any luck on that one?

cheers

Goalie coverage? Wow! That's insane stuff. Can we radically reduce user team's faceoff abilities as well? Now you have to put faceoffs to 50 to get realistic win percentage. That would be a great user disadvantage.

Sorry for all the questions, last one for now :) have you managed to find anything on shot accuracy so we can experience more missed shots?

Oh yeah... that's a big one. And one of the least realistic aspects in NHL04... way too few shots going wide.

I haven't done anything yet with shot accuracy, but it's on the list :)

Hi Vod,

as everybody I am big fan of your work and I am really thankful for your work and dedication. You are really helping to push the limits of this game.

I have one question regarding the Launcher.Would it be possible to force the Hasek cage to some goalies with the launcher? I mean Hasek ,Irbe,Sodestrom I guess only 3 which are using a special cage.Maybe once possilbe a special replica of their helmet could be modeled for all 3 goalies.

I know it is a minor thing but maybe it is easy with your knowledge.

Also regarding ice reflections. They are too shiny and bright.I believe the ice would look much better if we could tone down the reflections
