Hi all, I have a problem with the 1997 mod. This mod is perfect in almost every way stat and gameplay wise, except for one thing. On other people's 90s Season Reports, it seems like they are having realistic-scoring games, but for me it's another story. I am only seeing two or three goals a game MAX because the goalies are so good. I have played 8 games of my Anaheim season, and I am 5-2-1. six of the eight games I have played have been shutouts. the results of the first 8 games have been (me-opponent) 2-0, 1-0, 0-2, 1-2, 1-1, 2-1, 2-0, 1-0. All of the AI teams have been getting decent scores in their games, such as 3-2, 4-1, etc, but neither me nor my opponent score many goals when I am actually playing a game. SOG is not an issue at all, the shot results at the end of the last game were 42-48, and that one ended 1-0. This was never a problem for me when I played Rebuilt 2017. In fact, the scoring was perfect there. I had a very good balance between low/mid-scoring games and all-out score-fests. Now, no matter how the game goes, both goalies always get 1st and 2nd star because of how well they play every single game. Even when turning the shot accuracy and power up, I am not seeing any more goals. I haven't touched any of the other AI settings, they are still on trent's 04 Rebuilt AI as they were in my 2017 season, so I'm not sure what has happened to the goalies to turn them into supermen. Does anyone know how I could possibly change this? Should I reinstall the mod, or have I just had 8 fluky games in a row? Playing with a -2 handicap for the players and 0 for the goalies by the way, if that matters at all here. |

Strange. I never had such issues. And I rarely got shots going over 40, either. Especially now when I halfed the Penalty time to one minute with Launcher 1.50. Goalies shouldn't be much different from v1. Pretty much the same overalls, in the 76-83 range (Hasek, Brodeur, Roy top rated). In the beginning of the season I sometimes get lower scoring games. But when the teams and goalies fatigue when the season goes on, scoring icreases a bit. Are you getting a decent amount of penalties? You should, with the default settings. It might be just a coincidence. Just keep playing for a while and see what happens. |

Ok, I started a new season and made the periods a couple minutes longer, and am starting to see a change in goalie performance. The first time I played the season opener against Toronto, I won 1-0. This time it was 4-2. I think the periods were too short and the goalies were not getting gassed at all. Now, as the game goes on, they actually give up goals through the five hole, they give up more rebounds, and they aren't insanely accurate with their glove. I'm sure the extended periods will make goalies fatigue a bit faster throughout the season as well. Is there a way to check a goalie's overall fatigue during the season? I know that the game tells you when your goalie is fatigued with the little ZZZ over his player icon in the roster menu, but I want to see an actual 0-100/100 scale of his fatigue level. As for penalites, I had a lot more powerplays than the AI during this opener, which is really the only reason I won, as Toronto had better chances than me during even strength play. Anaheim had five PPs, converting on two of them, and Toronto only had one, which they failed to convert. Hopefully this was just Toronto being very undisciplined on opening night, and the rest of the teams I play won't be as generous in giving me PPs. Other than that, I think I may be good to go for my 1997 season! Also, you said you cut the penalty times by half. Does that mean in the launcher I would change the penalty time from 20 to 10 to do this? |

Yes. and OT time = 6. Very important in the playoffs. With default settings playoff OT period is not 6 minutes, but 20 minutes. That's nuts. Also, the 5 minute OT (after a tie) was 5 actual, real time minutes. That is equivalent to almost one extra period. Again, totally crazy. With these settings they are now on par with the actual game time. |
