Different launcher versions

Seems like different mods have different launcher versions. Can ALL of the mods here be run by the latest launcher 1.45? Or do the ones that come with 1.40 have to only be run by 1.40? Thank you, don't know why I'm so confused about this but I'd rather not break anything rather than testing.

(I understand that 1.5 is still in beta.)

Launcher 1.4* doesn't support scripting. All of the scripts are for the latest public alpha of 1.5

Sorry, I don't know what scripting is.
And I'm still not sure about the versions below 1.5. Should you always just use the newest one? I've been running all the mods on 1.40 or less.

1.45 is recommended at the minimum. If a mod has a version under 1.45, I would update it. Launcher 1.5 is a public alpha for testing purposes, so it may not be as stable as 1.45.

Gotcha. Thanks.
Have you got the "New menu interface music" from the 2017 mod by any chance? The link is broken there.

No. I use Cycloniac's music pack from the console games.

Good idea. I was gonna do the same thing.
Just have to learn how to put them in. I'd love to get rid of the menu music though. I can't take one more second of those 90s pop songs.

If you use Launcher 1.5, the menu music is silent until you add your own MP3s:

Ok, but either way, 1.5 is too beta right now and buggy, right?

I know you can edit the ini to turn on and off the QuickLaunch but what determines whether you see the popup window when trying a mod? My point is, if I DONT see it, is it because I've done something wrong in the installation because seeing it is the default? Is it just that the modder has decided to build the root directory with a version that keeps QuickLaunch on?

I said it may not be as stable as 1.45. That doesn't mean it's buggy.

launcher.ini should never be included with any full conversion mod. If they do, they're doing it wrong, especially if they include QuickLaunch by default.

I'm so confused. I thought the only way to make NHL04 run was using the launcher because the original EA exe doesn't work anymore. Have I totally misunderstood?

Yes, you've misunderstood. The launcher is an optional mod that adds new features and graphics settings to the game. It's generally not mandatory for the game to work, except for a few edge cases on certain systems. Launcher.ini is just the settings file for the launcher. That one file should not be included in full conversion mods because there's no "one size fits all" for launcher settings. It's best for users to come up with their own settings based on their system.
